I think they are probably the best built watches in there price range, there designs have come a long way. if you want an mechanical and super value, you can consider pic related. Its currently a bit more at $80 but aliexpress has sales often and they drop to $60. They have seiko or miyota movement inside. Handwinding, hacking, sapphire crystal.

a seiko 5 is around the same price but will not have handwinding or hacking and it will come with mineral glass instead of sapphire.

also, the straps can be changed on most watches and dont need to worry about that too much.

This is the same as saying the Honda Accord is a Toyota Camry Homage because they are roughly the same size and they both have 4 wheels. The orange GMT hand is obviously influenced by the Explorer 2 but they are recognizably different watches. Nobody who isn't retarded would confuse them.

The dial layout is completely different and there is actually a pretty unique design language to CW that makes it pretty recognizably different than the Rolex. The bezel is thinner and the dial is wider on the CW. The indices are much different on the CW and the way the logos and text are distributed looks nothing like the explorer 2. Those aren't slight changes, it's a completely different case shape, bezel style, and dial layout.

Not him, but I wouldn't buy a sub over it even if it was the same price as the bb58. Fat maxicase lugs, no beveling on the lugs, no angled brushing on the top of the lugs (less interesting imo). I do prefer the matte texture of the bezel despite it not being as scratch resistant. Basically the bb58 is finished the way subs used to be finished.

i have honestly not seen a watch thats bezel gets that shit up besides 65 year old rolex subs that people cream their jeans over. I have an old skx that i use as a beater and the bezel is fine. Either people are extremely clumsy (we're talking complete lack of any kind of natural grace) or rolex madae really shitty aluminum bezels. Or it's a non-issue. That being said, the ceramic looks nice but lets not pretend that it is a meaningful upgrade in terms of durability any more than the white gold edged indices increase legibility.
