1, low rise doesn't make one look short. High waist makes one's legs look long. HOWEVER, it's not kind of long you want. Because the waist is so high, just makes your body look disproportionate by disappearing your torso. What ends up happening with high waist, is that nice torso ends up looking truncated and squat.

That brings us to 2: Torso is more important than legs. When people talk about figure in terms of pear or hourglass or apple or whatever. They're not talking about the length of your legs. They're talking from shoulders to upper thigh. That is more important than how long your legs look. This is even more true when it comes to taking photos/videos, as no one is looking at your legs. They're seeing you from the hips and up. And you decide to cover those hips? Bad move.

OP here. Acknowledged. I guess I allowed myself to be influenced into thinking that mids were low, because everyone was confirming as much. In the tik tok that this thread was inspired by, the girl was truly wearing mids. Or at least that is how they fit her anyway. Only a little below the belly button. However, the two hating commenters claimed they were low, and no one else corrected this.
Then, when I searched for an image to post for this thread, I searched "low rise jeans", and got a lot of mids labelled as lows. I chose what I figured was a safely generic image. But I guess I neglected to consider that they're not so low.

So to clarify: I'm ok with mid rise jeans. They look ok, and comfortable as well. But only up to a point of course. As jeans fit differently on different body times. Sometimes mids look high, and that can't be allowed. So of course it has to be judged on a case by case basis. But generally speaking, the more hips visible: the better. That's why I'm still for truly low rise jeans to make a come back.
