G-shocks are the best watches, prove me wrong.
If you're a real man, you work with your hands a lot, whenever I would wear my fancy shmancy automatic dress watches, they would pretty much always end up getting scratched up or shattered crystals.. If you're autistic you should know how horrible it feels to have ugly scratches on your watch which you cant unsee. I like watches that I can wear 24/7, without having to constantly re adjust the time and date if you take it off, infact I haven't taken my gshock off once since I got it 2 years ago. It runs on solar power and the rechargeable battery has been known to last for over 20 years.
I once had a vintage omega I got at a garage sale worth around 300$, the movement was gunked up and would keep on stopping etc, to get it serviced the Jews wanted over 200$ so I just sold it as is.. Automatics are also inferior at keeping the correct time, they are known for losing 2-20 seconds DAILY. so will never show the correct time (which is a watches sole intended function), while my g shock is linked to the ATOMIC world clock, every single night it syncs to the world clock, ensuring it is military precise to the second.
I can slam my watch against a brick wall, can you do the same with your mechanical rollie wollie without it ticking backwards? More moving parts = more points of failure.
So in my humble opinion g shocks are the most superior portable time keeping device. Built with turbo autistic Japanese engineering.

have previously gone through the speedmasters, old grand seiko re-issues and some others that i’ve sold.

the 114270 is the only one that’s changed just slightly but it’s pretty much the same.

i am thinking about getting a reverso in the future, which is another old design. nearly a century old now.

I think for the inverted numbers you need to import it from Japan because those are made for the jdm (japanese domestic market) the western version has regular numbers and a red line around the bezel.
Cost me around 150$.
Cant tell you how cool G shocks are..
They have really good quality and engineering too, tank watches.

You could probably pass one down for generations just like the autos, and they dont need any servicing.. The regular battery powered ones have been known to last for 7+ years on just one regular button Battery.
And I used go have an early 90s one which worked perfectly. I assume the original 80s ones still work too.

They arent no Chinese planned obsolescense garbage.. The creator of S shock was a humble autist who's primary goal was to make an indestructible watch... You can freeze them / boil it etc theres some crazy torture test videos with them.
Not sure if you can freeze a Rolex in a block of ice and then throw it in boiling water.. Regular watches can always get BTFO on the delicate crystal..

Eh, G-shocks aren't indestructible, and I don't think the parts are really built to last, with the resin cases on most models that will eventually break, the caseback screws stripping, the crappy rubber that degrades over time, and just basic electrical failure.

But for a watch that costs you maybe a couple of hundred bucks, and under 80 if you're getting the standard model for that year, I don't really know how much more you could ask of them. It'd be nice to get more models with sapphire, I guess.

Will they last 50+ years? Maybe not. But they'll probably last you at least 20, and by then they'll have a new model out with some improvements. I've got mine with the chink titanium on it, and it feels great on the wrist.

It's technically very advanced with the super ultra thin automatic movement and all, but I can't help but think about the first gen AP Royal Oak's which all had the (for the time anyway) super thin movements and how much of a fuckery they are to service even now.

Literally every watch they make except maybe a few other of the cheaper analog-digital watches looks better than that abortion.
Personally my favorite current model is the black titanium square (GMW-B5000TB-1) as seen on the right in this image. But most of the squares look pretty good imho.
I mentioned the casiOAK because it is the current thinnest g-shock, it's somewhat reasonably sized (for a g-shock) and it looks pretty decent as far as their cheaper analog-digital models go.

I think the HKED ones are more accurate to the originals. IIRC they have a display caseback which the originals didn't have, but the front with the logo and the designs are all truer to the original 1960s prototypes than anything else out there, even the official ones from Seagull. The Poljot24.de ones look to basically just be identical to Seagull's official ones at half the price, but again, these are less accurate to the originals and I don't want the Chicom star on my watch to be honest.

It apparently is a bit finicky. If you live in place with thick walls especially brick or concrete it can be hard to get it to receive. You can try leaving it near a window overnight or mess around with putting it in different places or positions around your room. Sleeping with it on might? also make it harder to receive.

My cheap shit casinos arrived. Not bad for $30 a piece. Bought a white and a black. Didnt wanna take my seiko out when doing rough shit.

If the nato on the casio seems off, it's because it is. Couldn't wait for the 18mm to arrive from aliexpress (who knows how long that's gonna take), so I forced a 22mm I had for the seiko into it. It's not very noticeable when worn.
