You will get better quality stuff from RLPL, it's mostly all made in italy from higher quality materials. The normal polo line is of decent quality, but I have noticed in my khakis and cords, threads coming loose etc. Not "structurally important" threads, but you shouldn't ever find things like that in a RLPL. The quality of the materials is still good, but it's those aspects like how well they are stitched (the small details) that you will get in purple label. People shit on H&M here, but I have $20 jeans that are 3 years old, been washed and dried countless times and never have threads coming loose. The materials used in H&M jeans are lower grade than polo, but the construction of their jeans is acceptable. Whereas, a $20 button up from H&m will have the buttons falling off of it in the store. And the material will feel like cheap paper. Most of the things I own that are made in Italy by higher end designers, is made very well. Tbs, I would concentrate on finding the best style of clothes for you, instead of just blindly buying expensive clothes just because it's trendy.

>> No.15226309

>>15226302
>Most of the things I own that are made in Italy by higher end designers, is made very well.
Beware of falling for lower end no-name brands, that use "made in italy" as a way of increasing the price. I have some shoes like this, that are just garbage. Sites like Yoox, are rife with this crap. Cheaper than well-known designers, but made in italy, by some unknown italian name like "Salami and Pepperoni Creative", I would avoid that crap and just get some stuff at Polo or H&M, american eagle or GAP. For more important items like leather jackets, leather-soled shoes, or wax jackets, you don't want to be "frugal" on those though. Go with the well-respected brand.

>> No.15226329

That could be part of it. But I believe we are getting raided by pol, by "Trad" dilettantes who have no understanding of /fa/ or fashion. I find it all quite humourous myself.+
>>15226329
It's always on a case by case basis. It depends like I said on the item. Jeans, for instance, can be made very well, and durable for cheap. Because they are jeans... They are "workwear", that's why denim is a tough weave. Same with twill pants, the weave itself is a strong weave. It's "difficult" to make a crappy quality twill.
The only way to know, is to buy, and wear. You need a trial period, and a sample size right? Plus it's relative. Premium jeans are twice as much as their normal in price, but still very cheap compared to lower end "Designer" labels like Acne jeans, or those Japanese label jeans.

Peacoats are easy, you want 100% wool. It doesn't have to "pure new wool", or 100% Cashmere, but those would be the best.

Cheaper "premium" brands will offer "Cashmere Blend" at marked up prices, but you would be better off getting something that's just 100% wool, or as close to it as you can find. Wool blends are not bad, they are durable, but usuallly polyester mainly. In that case, it's not about durability, but breathability and the literal "look" of a true 100% wool coat shell, it simply has a better surface texture. Polyester blends just don't look as "rich" as all wool or even >50% wool. Most cheap peacoats are 70% polyester but marketed as "Wool".

>Because they are jeans... They are "workwear", that's why denim is a tough weave. Same with twill pants, the weave itself is a strong weave. It's "difficult" to make a crappy quality twill.
The only x-factor here is that you will have a spectrum of denim "thicknesses", very cheap jeans will be made of a very thin denim, even though it is strong in a tensile sense, the cost is that much lower because it's less material needed. But wrangler jeans are quite thick and still cheap. Because they specialize in jeans and workwear, their cuts are not the most "fashion-forward" obviously though.

Other items such as metal-framed sunglasses, can be made very cheap, with cheap materials, but if you drop them they will break. Because the important points, like where the rims attach to the bridge, will be welded cheaply with minimal contact. Whereas a high end steel-framed sunglasses, will be constructed to last.

It's good, I like the nonchalance here and indeed you don't have to iron Oxford shirts but you should get glasses with smaller frames. as a rule of thumb they shouldn't cover your eybrows.

Holy shit the other thread is a clusterfuck, what happened? Also, I bought a deadstock bb shirt from the 60s a few months back. It’s a nice pink short sleeve. Now, the only problem is that the sleeves are HUGE. I hate contemporary shirt silhouettes because of that already, but these are ridiculously wide (though I so like the length). Is this part of the style?

No one answered my question in the last thread. I guess that's the new first one now, so I'm going to ask it here. Any tips on waxing Barbour jackets? Should I get Barbour wax or it doesn't matter?

I layer thin cardigans under sportcoats, my nibba. #menswear writers rave about sleeveless ones, my broke ass got navy and grey ones from merino wool by Suitsupply.

Guys I found a pretty cool camel harrington to wear with my taupe clarks.
Would khaki pants also work with that?
Or should I go for a more contrasted color?

Yes, go with blue chinos or even jeans.

Have you noticed how all of the inspo posted in these threads is all from 50 years ago? Nothing in this style has been posted from this century.
If anything from 2000 and later is posted it's super cringy reddit posts of people dressed in costumes.

Do you have a jew nose? Your glasses completely eat your eyebrows which is never a good thing and usually a sign of too small glasses

It’s not a Jew nose, it’s wide however, it looks like Christoph Waltz’ nose.
