What? Unless it's Vostoks "lol, we just drop some shitty lume dots on the dial" technique, it generally is integrated into the markers and fits with the design. But yes, on some watches it doesn't look good, but those don't tend to have lume to start with (e.g. dress watches)
>It adds nothing and only detracts from a watch
Uh, you do know why lume is called lume? Stems from luminescence (or rather, the latin roots of the word, I would suppose) and allows you to check the time in the dark (assuming you exposed your watch to daylight before.
but of course some basement dwelling autist that whose dwelling i lit only by his gaming-LGTRGB-battlestation, no matter which time of the day or night wouldn't know such a thing.

Just get the latin dial version then.
Ironically, that's as original as the cyrillic one, since apparently soviet watches were always produced in latin variants for export, and the soviet citizens thought that export quality must be better than domestic stuff, so even in Russia, latin dials were preffered, so a lot of those watches leaked out of the factory to be sold domestically on the grey market.
Or so I have read.
But I don't notice no error, since I can't read cyrillic and only speak like 3 half sentences of russian.

That's the truth about Breitling Navitimers.
It's absurd that pilots are expected to use these things to do algebra while flying a plane with their life literally on the line, reading those tiny numbers in turbulence or night time conditions.
In reality Breitling Navitimers are the biggest LARP in watches, everyone who gets them is either a young pilot, a retired pilot who ends up shelving it for something simpler because their boomer eyes can't read it, or someone who wishes they were a pilot.

Very based.
If there are AD's that are dying, then that's only a natural reaction of the market that was kiked for a long time.
Rolex encouraged it because it was a legit way for them to create hype and inflate the rolex brand name. And they could also wiggle themselves out of responsibility by having the flippers as a scapegoat. But they paved the road for these scalpers and maintain it now.

I can't be mad at rawlex for being cunts, they just want to make money off of retards. It's even fun to boserve the whole thing. But i, sure as fuck am eager to call out kikery. Sorry for AD's that were honest and were hit but i'm sure they'll manage.
It will be interesting to see how rolex proceeds. Will they use this "recession" as an excuse to continue the bubble or will they try to come clean and pretend to be doing something against flippers, to revive buyers trust and steer them into the next scheeme?

When the daytona was released, it was one of the worst selling rolex models of all time. ADs were begging people to take them off of their hands and it's only very recently that anyone gave a single shit about them. It's not "associated with the daytona motor speedway" either. Rolex just stole the name. The daytona did not represent a milestone in technology, design, for the brand, and has not been instrumental in a single significant event in history. What do you want to spend? I had a hked in blue, was nice but to hard to read in low light, would still have it if I got your colourway.

Hamilton Intra-Matic panda dial
Longines big eye

This whole watch collection is a long string of communities that cater to the "bugmen" (don't like that term but idk what else to call it) who's personalities consist of what media they consume and what products they buy. Purchasing watches is not a skill, it's not a hobby, it's not something that can be translated into enriching experience. It goes along well with other "hobbies" such as:

>mechanical keyboard
>craft beer
>hair product
>clark's dessert boots
>expensive headphones
>fountain pens
>marvel movies
>video games

They're not real hobbies. They're just ways to spend money. I mean the NEET of this website are just doing their typical 3 hours of browsing a day, and they see a stray post, and they do just enough reserach to where they can find their best "starter watch".

i.e: "what's the least amount of money I can spend that will make me superior to the plebs who haven't discovered this niche community like I did (20 mnutes ago)???"

The answer is usually a Seiko 5 SNK809 or Vostok. It's around $40, available on Amazon Prime, and has automatic movement. An AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT, GUYS. This means that I am far superior to the idiots who still buy quartz watches.

I mean, flipping watches can be a hobby. Building watches is a hobby. Repairing watches is definitely a hobby. But buying them is not. It's just an activity that we all like. We're just slightly more advanced than the dipshit who browse /r/watches sort by top all time after first discovering it and determines that he needs a Seiko SKX007. The advanced version of this dipshit, by the way, is the richer dipshit who buys the empirically boring Omega Speedmaster. IT WENT TO THE FUCKING MOON, LADS. I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE!!!

Cont

Both /r/watches and /wt/ is just a crow-sourced machine that allows people to verify that they have the right opinions, the right tastes. It's not a hobby. It's barely even an interest. It's just a way for us to spend money. But spend money with the approval of other people who have been suckered into spending money to impress other (anonymous) suckers. No one will ever recognize your Stowa Marine. No one you meet in real life will ever know what a Sinn is. The only people who will are other anonymous who participate in a niche groups like this that are smaller than the fan group for cancelled 90s sitcom.

The only watch that will catch anyone's eye is a Rolex, and you didn't need to waste hours and hours here to figure that out.

but truthfully i kind of agree with the sentiment. however, collecting has been a thing for a very long time and is unlikely to go away. It can be a decent hobby if you are actually collecting specific shit, in which case you'll have to form a network of contacts and research old catalogs and shit like that. hardcore old school collecting. The internet has kind of ruined collecting in a lot of ways since everybody has so much information easily at their fingertips. It used to take a lot work to find out about this shit and you'd probably meet quite a few people and feel rewarded when you finally find what youre after - two elements of a good hobby. now it's largely as you say - quick google search then buy. There is no interaction and no reward.. its important to be mindful of this while buying things.

Majority of Rolex owners are low to middle class people. These people are trapped in living lives beyond their means. The $10k Rolex is a manifestation of their extremely poor decisions and lack of meaning in their lives. So they must vehemently defend it and seek out validations. "The Rolex I bought is the best one. I've gotten a better deal than anyone else" is the all too common narrative in their head. These people are willing to screw anyone over for a buck because that's how tight of financial margin they're living on. Jesush fucking crhist. It's obsviously a Cal. 321 Omega speedy, pre-Professional moniacker, on an fucking 'sharktrail' adjustible bracelet (probably because the original was lost or damaged or it was on leather and they couldn't find a new one). Original lume (tritium, see the 'Swiss made T" at the bbotom), and gently depressed subdials. Hour and Minute hand hae been replaced, (i.e. probably 80's given the colour), but teh hour and upraised inner circle indicate original second hand plus original dial.

Bezel also original or highly fucked up becaus eof neglect,

The straight lugs you mention are idiomatic of this verison of the Speedy. You're a fucking uninformed novice. On the open market, in this condition ,is probably 10-12kUSD depending on the market.

Do research before you discard a fucking icon. (i.e. most of the watches that went to the moon were this calibre and year, not the 1969 that had the curved modern lugs and the Professional marking on the face).

What's your fucking budget? That's all that matters. The 1963 is a fucking performer, the chronic. If well regulated, it'll keep withint .5 of a secon per day (as mine does) or better. If you ned something better, next teir is Omega Speedy (1861), then next is Zenith or vintage Rolex. If you want reliability, go with the Valjoux that's used int he OMega chronographs (along with Breitling, Oris, and other midtiers) pre coaxial; they're affordable. I don't totally disagree with you, but your definition of hobbies is pretty narrow. Collecting shit is a hobby since that word exists! E.g. take the classic hobby of stamp collecting (does anyone below 70 even do that anymore?) where you pay insane sums for little, worthless pieces of paper that don't have any utitlity at all and are mass produced to have a real value close to zero. A watch at least does something and production costs something more than a fraction of a penny. Yet, it was a total normal hobby to have.
And
>>mechanical keyboard
Well, if it makes your work easier, why not get one? Or go through a few until you found a good fit.
>>craft beer
You could maybe just get into that hobby because you enjoy trying new tastes?
>>hair product
Is there really folks that treat that as a hobby?
>>clark's dessert boots
Again, is that really a hobby? Why not get one if you like them, and get another one to let them air out between wearing them or to have some different colors.
>>expensive headphones
As opposed to cheap headphones? Just like with the mech keyboard, they really can improve your life a tiny bit, but you might wanna try a few things out before you find your grail.
>>fountain pens
Same as above.
>>marvel movies
Does anyone really consider that a hobby? Jut watching movies you like isn't really a hobby.
>>video games
It's a way to spend time with something you enjoy, so yeah, it's a hobby in some way.
Though I'd suggest to pick up some sport or /out/ activity to go with any of the above, so that you can socialize and take care of your body (same with watches)

Pros

>it looks nice
>chronograph for ~300$
>some history behind it

Cons
