Are fedoras still wearable or did Reddit atheists completely ruin it?

>> No.15159810

they were never wearable, they just look decent in black and white films and photographs where the wearers' heights are surreptitiously cloaked.

The euphorics didn't wear fedoras tho, they wore trilbys, and usually patterned and flourished in some cringy ways. Personally I like fedoras and think they looks good with suits, certainly they are better than flat caps and similar styles, which are the modern day fedoras anyways.

Only one of those has a cattlemen's crease. The Stetsons are both crossover styles and the Akubras are open crown hats for you to steam and shape into whatever you want.

There's an obnoxious trend going around with aging 30+ millenials to go "folk" style and wear these obnoxious hand fitted felt and suede "heritage" hats along with some vintage hunting clothes, plaids, thick fleece, button down sweaters, and listen to rubbish faux-folksy music on vintage instruments like accordions and ukuleles.

These people are faggots.

Hats like those narrow-brimmed cloth, nylon, or even polyester trilbies were more of a late 2000s, very early 2010s trend, until backlash against it became more noticeable by 2012 or 2013.

>>15160951
This is probably what more fashion-conscious hat-wearers are aiming for, more recently; hats with moderate-to-wide brim widths, and maybe even somewhat higher crowns than the usual 4 inches to the crease up top height.. Even the mid-2010s held the moderate-brimmed fedora as somewhat fashionable, if mainly represented by a few celebrities and some hipsters.

I agree, my point about "surely larping as a cowboy is the ultimate cringe" was really to illustrate the ridiculousness in saying that one kind of hat, however well fitting and suiting, cannot be worn because of an association, but another one can, even though you could draw an association from any hat to something cringy, larpy etc.

No, but fedoras are a wider category than you think. Especially if you include what was called a fedora in the 1920s and further back.

Yes, start with a panama though, those can be pulled off with more fits and are still worn by normies becuase they are functional. I always loved hats and inherited a lot from my pop pop who was the same way. I have a few formal hats, a kind of odd mixture, I’m looking to get some more versatile hats like a Stetson Frederick. But you have to find the right hat for your outfit, not all formal hats look good with every suit, you need to look at the suit (or outfit) and think about the era/ and vibe of the hat. For instance I have a a black felt homburg I only got cause it was real fur felt for cheap and I think it has only paired well with about 3 or 4 different outfits (a formal 3 piece 30s inspired outfit, a 3 piece tuxedo, and a turtleneck under a black overcoat)
