Just got my samples from Scent City. Got 5 of them, so they were indeed including freebies on top of free Nobile 1942 sample with the code I posted here last week. Quite generous of them I got like $20 in samples for free. I got

>Designer Shaik Opulent Shaik Classic No 77

>Caron Yatagan
This smells like rape in woods. I smelled castoreum the other time in Bloom Perfumery and chapeau bas to Caron for how smoothly they blended it here. It's not disgusting-fecal at all and just gives Yatagan animalic vibe. Despite being unapologetically masculine, there are many nuances here making it interesting. This house is definitely a niche quality.
>Caron Pour Un Homme
LT said that it is the definition of lavender for men. However, there's more going on here. There's lots of lavender here true but it's not the kind of suave just-got-a-wet-shave in London type of lavender that you're used to. It's dirty and hyper-masculine thanks to vanilla+musk and I know what this combo reminds me of. Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle. Imagine a guy wearing a barbershop fragrance after rough fucking a 20-something cutie wearing this Malle, choking her, pulling her hair and degrading her for an hour. His barbershop lavender got dirty and there's her perfume lingering all over his body. Pour Un Homme is how he smells when he stands from the bed to wipe his dick in her curtains. I get now why it is so polarizing, it's not an easy to pull off fragrance. If you can though, you'll be in love.
>Caron Le 3' Homme
Oh fucking hell. It's amazing. Wafts were right that if released by Roja it could be selling for 10x the pricetag. Incredible value for the price. It's a big three-dimensional classical fragrance. I get the NYI vibe here but it's not fresh-spicy but rather comfy-spicy thanks to cloves. Veery smooth stuff.
>Parfum d'Empire Azemour Les Orangers
That's another one New York Intense smell-alike. Replace bergamot and lavender from NYI with fresh zesty citruses and you get ALO. Beautiful scent with plethora of citruses that somehow stay fresh and don't get cloying (like in XJ Rennaisance). Definitely appropriate for hot weather when NYI is too heavy. I can imagine having ALO + NYI as the two and only fragrances I have tbf. It dries down to a green soapy musk.

>Penhaligon's Sartorial
It's the most popular men Penhaligon's in their line up, so a good place to start with the house. The opening screams class. Definitely a fragrance for someone who knows what he wants. It's built around a barbershop structure with prominent lavender on a sweet-floral-spicy background. The sweetness here is definitely not anything juvenile like in other popular modern barbershop fragrances like Dylan Blue. I have yet to find a Duchaufour's fragrance that would be a dud. This man is a genius. Survives 6-8h on my skin drying down to a bit musky lavender metallic vibe (which is not unconventional or challenging at all - it's hard to describe it).
>Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel
It opens with a dated soapy violet. Don't be discouraged though because couple minutes later a bit bitter herbal greenness comes out and balances the florals and dated vibe out. To be completely fair with you guys it's not my cup of tea but everyone who likes soapy/iris fragrances like Dior Home or Valentino Uomo Intense should try it as this might be just down your alley. It also has this fougery twist to it that reminds me of Xerjoff Mefisto Gentiluomo or Silver Mountain Water (minus fruits). Years ago I was mass buying cheap fragrances like Rasasi etc. It beats all of them despite costing like $10 per what 10 liters? You can literally wash yourself in it for this price. I'm also not able put my finger or anything here that would smell obviously synthetic or screeching. That's really a very smooth blend but you should definitely test it first.
>Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Man
This is what I wanted Creed Viking to smell like. It smells expensive from the first sniff. It's woodsy, spicy and refreshing. Very, very well balanced summer fragrance. It's really safe on one hand and very sophisticated and unique on the other. I totally understand why LT gave it 5/5 stars. If you want just one power fragrance and don't bother with anything else this might be it.

Three more really good cheapies. All of you cheap skates should check them out. They're very good and absolute bargains and I'm saying it as a guy who smelled like 500+ niche stuff.
>Boucheron Jaipur Homme
Opens with nice fresh citrus accord. It smells all natural and could be easily an accord from some fresh Tom Ford Private Blend when it comes to quality. After couple minutes it's actual face shows uo. It transforms to a super comfy classy balsamic spicy scent. Warm benzoin, cardamom and cinnamon is very noticeable here. Everything with some florals and green-woody quality lingering that makes it complex. We talk here in /frag/ about so many orientals but this one is really better than most of stuff that costs 5-10x what Boucheron costs.
>Boucheron Pour Homme EDP
Quite a classical citrus chypre. The citruses are a bit soapy what makes it a bit dated to my nose. You get a bit of Green Irish Tweed from lemon verbena and some herbal rosemary-like vibe but the main accord are soapy citruses-florals-oakmoss like in every respectable chypre. Nothing unexceptional but you can do so much worse in <$60 category that it's still worth testing.
>Estée Lauder Youth-Dew
That's a very pleasant spicy oriental fragrance. The opening is feminine and immediately reminded me of warm spiciness of MDCI Fetes Persanes with Fetes' smooth vanilla replaced by florals and fruits. After the rose and fruits from opening calm their asses down it settles to a unisex-feminine leaning balsamic chypre that gets more unisex with each minute. It's not 1000 miles away from Chypre Palatin to be fair. Very good quality stuff for like $20 per bottle.

I want to go through samples first to have couple full day wears but there are some that I'm considering a full bottle worthy. Caron Le 3' Homme, Azemour Les Orangers are almost surely going to end up with me. I think Ormondo Jayne is really, really good and vibes well with my personality so I'm considering it. I also wanted to add some classic barbershop fragrance for a long time so if this longing becomes stronger, I'm gonna 100% buy Sartorial. It's really cheap for the price. I'd also buy Boucheron Jaipur but I have too many orientals on my list. If I were just starting, I'd defo buy it.

I think the poster I posted is quite accurate. I imagine a very masculine guy in a non-metrosexual way pulling it off easily in modern times. It's not dated, it's just hard to pull off.

No, I bought it 18 months ago.

A slightly sweet opening, but not in a cloying, sickly way, a kind of pleasant sweetness. It doesn’t hang around for long though and it makes way for a relatively simple, but quite fresh woody base. The cedar and sandalwood are very dominant, Oud is barely detectable. It’s lighter than you might expect, and it’s probably my favourite woody fragrance. The kind that puts a smile on my face whenever I get a want of it. For reference, I generally don’t like Creed.

I love frags but I'm clearly allergic to certain compounds. Any tips?

I've tried Norne and Ghost Pine. The latter gives me a cough and runny eyes, the former sits fine with me. It's a shame because I love both but only the latter is easily accessible. Do you guys have tips for similar? I'm a fan of Interlude, but that smells less like a pine forest, even though it's an extremely powerful and a go-to winter frag.

I think we should get rid of the pricing info altogether, because most countries have wildly differing prices. US vs Canada vs Europe, or even within Europe, prices vary greatly. We could just include a 1, 2 or 3 dollar sign symbol, meaning 'cheapie', 'average' and 'high-price', and that's it. But I say you can get started if you want, and we'll discuss the price info a bit more.

From my experience it doesn't matter really. Been fucking art hoes left and right wearing all kind of stuff. The other time I was talking here about this 18 yo Kiwi model from London. Before seeing her I doused myself in Kouros for fun and when we were cuddling afterwards I asked her what does she think of my cologne. She took a sniff from my neck and said 'it's nice'. And Kouros is supposed to be one of most polarizing and obnoxious frags around according to many here. I think people overthink it fragrances. The only way fragrances matters when it comes to girls is how do they make you feel. Buy and wear frags for yourself not hoes young kings

Pure tuberose is what I get out of it, not as overwhelming as Carnal Flower. It is pretty much linear, I dabbed it on 2 hours ago and nothing's changed.
