I wore one of these when I was snorkeling out on vacation and forgot to take it off, but it was perfectly fine. The cream dial contrasts well with brown leather or pretty much any nylon strap. I prefer perlon over NATO even if you can get nice designs with NATO straps.

Oh yeah, if you see it for like $80 it's a freak accident, don't do it.

What are some modern watches with this style (with or without small seconds) of clean ,small and utilitarian design?.I'm eyeing several models similar to it, from Stowa, the marine 36mm and the antea ks looks nice (and nomos tangente) and similar to it.Something simple like the omega railmaster could also work.Budget would be up to 4k eur.

>Your budget
less than $600, probably, unless someone can convince me that spending more is a good idea. I do care about the store of value so I do not want to purchase something lame which nobody cares about
> Watch type, e.g. dress, diver, pilot
probably only dress; tool watches bother me unless someone can convince me otherwise
> Desired features, e.g. automatic, water resistance, day/date
the requirement is a great movement but not expensive to service
Otherwise, i'd probably like arabic indices like this image or an fp journe chronometre bleu, probably a black face. I feel like I want a perpetual calander(day, month, year, weekday) but I think that's not possible for this price
> Preferred strap option, e.g. leather, nylon, bracelet
anything but metal, I like when leather/silicone have the locking clasp.
> Wrist size or desired watch size
I tried 44mm and it was huge. I think that I'd prefer 32-36mm. I wamt something understated from afar.

I'm willing to accept a quartz only if it's a very good quartz movement(very accurate and strong movement which doesn't rattle or move etc). I suppose that the marinemaster is like this, but it's a tool watch. I'm not sure I'd like that. I'm even okay with digital if it actually looks good(not a g-shock)

>> No.15156444

>>15156442
The main problem with the squares is that the strap attachment is completely fucked if you have a small wrist, because it effectively extends the lugs out another few mm and leaves a gap, because the watch was designed by nerds who decided to put a buffer zone at the back in the unlikely event of the whole thing falling caseback first onto the ground with the strap wide open.

Given all the adaptors keep this awful feature and don't let a strap come out at 90 degrees, which is what you want if you're a wristlet with a big lug to lug distance, there's really no fixing it.

Timex weekender is what gets pushed by fashion magazines as the cheapest, versatile watch. Compared to a diver it really is versatile, you can use it for almost every situation. The ticking is damn loud, though.
Vostok is a quirky russian shitter with tons of little features most dive watches don't have. Emphasis on quirky, some things about the watch just suck. People love to mod it and make all sorts of cool things out of it, but that might not be for you.

Yes, but I only have one because that's all I wanted. If you have a job that requires free use of your hands and wrists, then a watch is impractical and a pocket watch is ideal. Further, if you wear 3-piece suits regularly (and I do for work) then a pocket watch fits in the vest quite nicely.

Aside from these settings, a pocket watch will always be a knock to the past. It's not fedora-tier if you have a use for it, but if it's for style alone then either steampunk the shit out of it or refer to it as an 'heirloom'. That's the only way it will be accepted by people in your generation.

If you're going to buy one, go vintage and have a trusted watchmaker close by. Depending on the movement and condition, you should be able to regulate it to reasonable tolerances (i.e. 0.0 per day if you know how it gains/loses depending upon orientation).

Simple. Having "good" taste when it comes to luxury items makes you look old money, and therefore elitist. Having "bad" taste with things like Richard Mille basically says "I grew up poor but now I'm suddenly rich, I'm just like you" to the plebs who see it. It's why rappers are big into loud watches like the diamond-studded APs, they need to convey a message of aggressively bad taste, otherwise their fans (the actual poors) will think they sold out. Then unfortunately people who can actually afford luxury items and should therefore have enough sense to know better see these rappers, decide that this is what fashion is, and ape the look. And that's how we ended up with Rolex making watches for pimps for the last 20 years

The new Rado Captain Cooks are nice. No crown guard and a beads of rice bracelet are automatically super classic on a diver and the design is simple and straightforward. Black is a versatile and it makes the watch look smaller but the other variations with colors are just so cool. I think the new trend is people are tired of the black watch because it's so basic and want something more expressive so you can get away with blue and green. Pretty sure they have a red version too. The colorful variations are probably more fitting because Rado is kind of a playful brand with their free-swinging anchor logo and funny naming schemes.
