That is a highly specialized and distinct watch. You will get questions if you wear that. Questions you probably will want to be able to answer. The black coating on the watch also makes it even more of a tacticool tool watch and not just something you can throw on with whatever.
Maybe you should consider the Seiko Alpinist which is basically the same watch but with a nice, classy vintage styling rather than looking like G-Shock's grandfather

Affordable automatic Seikos are Seiko 5s. Which suck. The new Seiko 5 Sports models that all look like the SKX use a better movement and have a street price of around 200 USD. I suppose that's the entry model now. They are decent watches, or you can pay a little more and get one of their tried and true divers like the Turtle or Samurai.
Quartz Seikos are cheaper but Citizen and Casio offer much more compelling budget quartz options. You can buy watches used on eBay or chrono24 or jomashop or whatever

42mm is pretty big. 40mm is considered acceptable and more or less normal for a modern dress watch, but pushing the limit. 34-39mm is the more classic styling but it's not a hard rule and your wrist size can change a lot.
Anyway my suggestion is the Seiko SARB035. It's a modern classic and you can get it for 350 bucks. It's got perfect proportions, has lume so it works in the dark. Great design with a nicely framed date window and well executed dauphine hands. Proven movement. Some will say it's a cliche but it's a fucking great watch anyway.

Absurdly overpriced even by watch standards with horrible build quality, like the other guy said it's a 20 dollar Chinese watch and you pay for the name. The design of the watch itself is also bad. The watch is too big. There's too much empty space on the dial. The hands are slightly undersized. The crown is comically undersized. The lugs are lazily executed.

I mean at around $200 you're going to be getting Chinese stuff anyways. The main thing people look for is the movement and the finishing. If you have no interest in mechanical watches there's tons of better made Citizens/Seiko's/Orients/Casio's at that same price point with better build quality and a more robust movement than the baseline stuff they put into most of the IG brands.

Even with automatics you can get good stuff like the Orient Symphony 3 which is under $200 with a decent minimalist aesthetic and remarkable build quality for the price.

Junghans Max Bill handwind. It's 34mm of dial, so it wears larger than its size would suggest, it's fairly thin and will side under pretty much anything due to its round profile, it's the perfect dress watch in this price range IMO. You might have to look for a used one, but there's not much that can go wrong if you buy a fairly recent model from someone with good feedback.

It has two crowns. The main crown that typically handles watch functions is deeply recessed. The other sticks out at the top like a horn, is gigantic, and has a huge integrated guard. This gives the watch a very unique design, and when a watch has such a unique design, it is assumed that there is a purpose behind it. It's a purpose-built instrument. That limits its versatility. You can still like the watch, but you should just know that.

I would start with a salicylic acid body wash. CeraVe has one. You can also try using a leave on treatment like stridex pads or serums. In theory retinoids should help, but I personally haven't researched it for KP.

>>15117640
Stop being a twink.

Maybe your treatments contain other shit that you're reacting to and it's not the SA. What products have you used? Maybe gentler AHAs like lactic acid, or lower concentrations of glycolic could be better if you're genuinely sensitive to salicylic acid. Retinoids like Adapalene (it's over the counter in the US) and Tretinoin would also BTFO comedones and would work more long term than exfoliators.

Niacinamide and retinoids. Exfoliation too, I liked The Ordinary's AHA + BHA peel.

Seiko doesn't really mention if its specifically designed for something in particular. It's resistant to 20bar and the manual says I can use it for scuba. It has 2 very basic field functions. That's about it. The gigantic crown with the guard just rotates the inner bezel.

What's the etiquette on dress watches? I suppose something less bulky and with more finesse? Like the Alpinist I posted here >>15117654

>> No.15117987

>what's the etiquette on dress watches?
Pretty much anyone will come up with their own set of rules. Some say "nooo it has to be minimal, no complications other than maybe date", and so you could say that something like a Nomos Tangente is ideal, but then you have things like the Glashütte Original Panoreserve or Lunar, which is a bit bigger. Others might argue that a sports watch (Rolex Sub or GMT-Master, typically) is perfectly fine to wear when you dress up, and other assclowns will wear Pokémon Go bracelets with their suits.
Generally, "less bulky" is a good pointer, and some say it needs to be able to slide under the cuff of your shirt (as opposed to catching the shirt on it).

>> No.15117990

>>15117941
Generally dress watches should be smaller than 40mm, and should be fairly simple and slim enough to fit under a well fitting sleeve. There's plenty of affordable dress watches that would work just fine (like the Orient Symphony III or the Seiko SARB033/035) but you don't really want to show up to a black tie event wearing a diver unless you really have the human presence to match that statement you're making. If you show up to a fancy occasion with a casual watch on your wrist you're basically saying that the event isn't anything important to you, which doesn't really matter for some people but might really offend someone of an older generation at a job interview or high stakes meeting.

James Bond can look good wearing a Seamaster with a Tuxedo but chances are you're not James Bond. You know?

I'm not a huge low end Swatch group fan just because I feel like under 1k you're almost always better off with a Japanese watch then a Swiss/German one for the money. With that being said, the visodates do have a good reputation for being solid value for money so I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea if you're really into the design for one. Yeah, I mean so long as it's not a literal black tie event you can get away with really any of the every day dress watches or even some "dress divers". It should just be something modestly sized, relatively plain and in a conservative color like black, white, or blue generally speaking.

Traditional rules: No lume, no date, looks like precious metal, small.
New rules: Not digital, not huge, can have complications as long as you have a clean dial.
If for some reason you don't like the traditional rules, don't like traditional dress watches, and you're forced into a situation where you have to, just don't wear a watch.

I don't really understand why most people don't get that the material cost of a watch is almost always in finishing/assembly rather than movements. Obviously there's also intangible things like branding/design etc but you can very easily create a quartz watch that a company's bottom line would demand a couple grand for by just using higher end materials and paying qualified quality finishers/assembly technicians. Yes, putting a $40 quartz movement into a $2000 watch seems silly, but if the thing has very high quality steel that someone spent 10 hours finishing then it's going to cost you a pretty penny regardless of the cheap movement.

There's nothing more to say. The date window is too far to the left. It should be further to the right to replace the missing 3 o'clock marker and balance out the 9 o'clock marker opposite it. Instead it's just kinda hanging out to the left of where it should be, surrounded by empty space, like it's practicing social distancing from the minute track. This one aspect throws the entire watch off, which is a shame because it looks fine other than that.

Watch companies say you should service every 3-5 years. Generally I've seen people go at least a decade with Seiko's before servicing them. ETA/Selita movements can usually go at least 7 years before servicing also unless you really beat the piss out of your watches. Usually a Seiko/Miyota is just going to get thrown out and replaced unless the movement has been discontinued, so there's not really a ton of point paying someone else to service the movement before it's really trashed. If you plan on doing most of the servicing yourself, then doing it every 3-5 years will ensure that the thing runs strong forever but if you're paying someone else you might as well throw it out half as often unless it starts keeping bad time.

Before the lockdown, 5-6 times a week, but sometimes it'd be from morning to evening, and the next day evening to night,so there'd be a gap of 18-20 hours between removing it and putting it on the next day and it'd die down. I tend to wind it by shaking it a few times. I have a habit of shaking my left hand to readjust the watch when I'm wearing it, so that probably helps somewhat.

Solvents meaning harsh chemicals which could end up dissolving your gaskets for water resistance. They could be anything from concentrated bleach to brake/transmission fluid. Generally the gaskets responsible for water resistance on watches are silicone, neoprene or rubber so really anything which could eat at them. Household alcohol being wiped on it probably won't make a big difference unless you were to really approach it's water resistance limit, but I wouldn't dunk it into a bowl filled with it and let it sit you know.

Another example would be people who do a lot of work with road salt. The mix of the road salt and water will get all over their watches and destroy those gaskets (along with pitting the metal if it's not high quality), so people who do that sort of work should expect to have shorter service intervals if they wear their watches to work.

The reason I'm wanting a SBBN025 is because I hear it's ridiculously accurate, and quite frankly I don't want to bring the SBDB013 to work at the Redbull drinkery, where I work as first roarer on the night shift, since it could get banged up.
I'm also considering getting an Isofrane strap for it, so I can wear it over my drysuit - it's really not a big thing, but I think it's stupid when divers like the Ploprof and the Tuna can't fit over the cuff of a drysuit on their OEM bracelet and/or band. To be sure, my computer (Suunto Vyper Novo) fits and does all that a diving watch does and more, but I feel that including an extra extension piece as a courtesy to anyone who would want to take their diving watches out diving should be expected.
