I had a bit of trouble with my black PVD zulu strap; it's very stiff and its stitching scratched my wrist up, and it's not long enough to fold into the double loops a second time (so as to take all motion stress off the spring pins) without pressing on whatever is next to the bone on my forearm.

Their "seatbelt" nato strap ("deluxe") is quite good though, been wearing one on my Invicta for a few weeks now and while it's not as light as a regular nato strap, it has a different sort of comfort, like a seabelt ought to.

Anything that isn't leather is good from them. The leather isn't great, for relatively cheap leather straps Morellato is good. Once you have a decent watch don't cheap out on the strap. It's like great clothing with shit shoes. Would recommend Molequine.

In terms of a depth rating you should always round down

The quality of the MN straps is...questionable. The straps themselves do the job well enough, but are too thin and thus feel cheap. The metal bits need a bit of handiwork to get the desired comfort level (bending on a tabletop to get a flatter angle so as to not bite into your forearm).
Otherwise they are a splendind and comfortable, just make sure you dont use them on a heavy watch head as they dont hold form well, meaning a heavy watch will pull the whole thing down and you will get uncomfortable wear with the band cutting into your wrist..
Also, you will get jewed tremendously, even when buying from yurop, as the fags change the price into burgerdollars and then back to yuros, leaving you paying for the exchange rate, even though they are shipping within the old continent.

Have a old, around 20 years I believe, timex that has some sentimental value. Wanted to add it back into rotation so I changed the battery after it being dead a long time. This thing can not hold time, since the last time I set it it’s now 2 days off or so. The problem has to do with the hands not moving or getting stuck sometimes even though you hear it ticking. Any idea what the issue could be, I know it’s a timex so it’s probably not serviceable at all, but anything I could try to mitigate the problem?

To be honest, I've talked to Omega technicians at Omega boutiques about it, and they were unable to explain what it meant. I also contacted both Omega corporate and METAS itself, who refused to explain the exact criteria. Omega corporate told me it was proprietary information. METAS told me to contact Omega (which is particularly weird since the whole point of the METAS standard is that it is administered by an independent organization, not by Omega).

There are three standards involved. 2. I like leaving my phone in a drawer and not being glued to it.
3. In the mountains I want a time keeper that can provide other services (altimeter, barometer, etc) while not having to carry a phone or rely on short term battery life.
4. In a wood shop, metal shop, or on many industrial environments having a phone out is considered really bad form because that’s when accidents happen, but being able to tell the time is still valuable.

Yes, it's fine to have a watch to tell the time, but nowadays I rarely see anyone wear a quartz/mechanical watch. People wear smart watches instead and unless you have time to do the slide rule in your watch, it's more convenient for people to just use their Apple watch to calculate it for you.

Tyt senpai, I have the smp300c on the way as a new daily. I had the PO2500 I had on on days that were kinda not so great for me in my life so I wanted to move on from it. Ultimately getting a Sub no date when my AD gets one in for daily wear when I don't think I'll be getting my hands too dirty(like just going to a party etc)

Only the black one is known, and even then it's an export model which is odd. Nobody knows which other ones were used.

The champagne models are pretty generic looking as far as vintage chronographs go, so I recommend either the black or white. The latest 40mm reissues with the ST19 movement are pretty spot on and are what I would recommend, while I have a white original.

High and low is the literal placement of the logo. Sekonda is an importer of watches in the UK, which used to source watches mainly from the USSR, but now China. Poljot is the brand commonly associated with the factory itself, while Strela is a brand only used on these watches and became their defacto name.

Hm, I think I'll go with the BBW (big, black watch…), 40mm for a chrono isn't too big I think.
However, from a keeping value perspective, should I get a a leftover with the Poljot 3133 calibre in 38mm (though only available in white, and I like black more) for ~€150 more, or should just get me the new one with the seagull movement? After all, it's a sub 400 watch, so it ain't really gonna become an expensive collectors piece anyways…

That's a bit of an old wives tale (I mean I know there are people who do care but I know a lot who don't). I don't wear a ring while welding because I got grounded through it once. I do wear a mechanical while welding. I've never had a problem with a watch while using a lathe or a mill, or using any wood working machines but I also don't fear wearing long sleeves as long as it's a button down shirt with tight cuffs and the right length.

And I'm also certain that I'm personally much more frightened of lathes and mills than the average working machinist, and that it's likely a non-issue for CNC operators. As for how much safer a wristwatch would be compared to always going to your pocket for a cell phone, seems like anyone's guess; I value my watch for exactly the reason that checking time off it leads to fewer broken cellphone displays in the long term (and also the cool factor of clockwork).
