No, you want advice on how to dress like a cowboy without looking like an insane person.
That requires two things: first, living in an area where dressing like a cowboy is normal and expected.
Second, a lifestyle that will justify dress ling like a cowboy so your clothing doesn't look like a costume. There's nothing more painfully LARP than pristine workwear.

You may want to consider this kind of a cowboy hat, as an option that serves as either an addition or an alternative to the heavily side-curled cattleman's crease cowboy hat in your picture. This picture I show depicts a very typical 1860s through early 1900s style cowboy hat, the first style made by the Stetson hat company exclusively meant to be made for the cowboy and rancher occupation, maybe also farmers or other outdoorsman, or even dudes (city folk dandies that were basically cowboy wannabes, as the term meant, back in the late 19th century). I think the flatter brim might look less obviously modern cowboy to most people, although the hat is not going to be seen as a fedora or similar narrower brim dress hat, either. Another option is the Stetson Open Road hat, which looks like the OP picture hat, but narrower brimmed, and a much less dramatic brim curl (it starts out new with the brim up all around at an even appearance, with just around 2 3/4 inches width, and a 4 or 4 1/2 inch crown height).

Was your question.
"live a lifestyle that justifies it, in a place that embraces it" is the answer. Otherwise you will just look like an insane person.

Throwing a hissy fit because you don't like the answer only makes you that much less likely to pull it off, by the way.

I am not the poster you responded to, but western wear is quite a bit popular among Mexicans and Mexican Americans. They seem to be the demographic most likely to just put on a cowboy hat and boots, around where I live, whereas the White Americans here seem to have lost that kind of idea, except just a few outliers that wear clothing like that.

The Stetson and Resistol companies, in addition to making hats, also make western wear shirts. I am trying to help out, OP. Don't mind the people that dislike or hate the style. Ariat is another company I can think of, and if you search for "western wear shirt," or "cowboy shirt," you will be able to see a lot of them on the web for sale, on various sites. Sheplers is a good website to find those shirts, and is a site used by the western wear crowd, largely. I bought my Stetson Open Road hat from that site, too, and they have good return and exchange policies, based on that first hat, which had noticeable problems, and I got a brand new one without flaws and no charge!

Okay, I live in a city (relatively small) surrounded by farms and ranches. Here are the low key elements I see daily that you could incorporate.
>blue jeans. sold cotton ones. no fake fading bs, just solid cotton straight leg.
>always tuck your shirt in. idk if its a t-shirt, tuck it in.
>wear long sleeve button up shirts. if its hot, roll the sleeves up.
>plain brown leather belt always.
>cowboy boots with pant leg over them. Dont tuck it in you will look try hard as you are not actually in an area where this visual makes sense (i assume). also opt for square toe not pointed toe. Again this is more because it will help you look less larpy as again, I'm guessing you don't live somewhere it makes functional sense otherwise.
>most everyone wears a hat of some kind. Cowboy hats are common here, but will likely look try-hard and silly on you. Opt for a baseball hat. Or I guess you could go wider brimmed fedora, but that might also look cringe. you decide.
>fiber content matters. Choose natural fibers. Cotton, linen, wool. This makes a suprising visual difference and makes what you are wearing look function and not purely fashionable.
>steer clear of overtly graphic labels bright colors. keep it neutral

There is always the kind of fedora-cowboy hat in-between hat, the Open Road, as seen in this post below. There's also the kind of hat that might be seen on Civil War reenactors, who wear hats that are not as wide as cowboy hats often are, but are still different from fedoras.

If you don't have a southern, Texan, or Mexican accent, it will inevitably come across as a cringy LARP. Based on this thread, that won't really have a negative impact on the way people see you, so knock yourself out.
I wear Western wear a good bit and would have helped you, but I'm glad I read the thread before responding. I won't tell you where to buy Western wear or what's good because I know with 100% certainty that you'll just fag it up and I'd prefer you not dress like me. I also don't want to reward your faggotry. These other anons' fruity advice seems to have been more your speed anyway. Have a nice day, OP. Maybe if that anon you were arguing with fucks your mom you'll get the father figure you're clearly missing.

Unless it's snakeskin or a similarly fragile exotic, it would take a significant act of violence to scuff boots in a way that would get a reaction from someone. If someone deliberately stomped the shit out of someone's boot, they might get drawn on lol. I have had people step on my boots (and mine aren't even work wear mind you) and it didn't matter for shit, but I had my mother in law's dogs stomp muddy, scratchy paws on my brand new tennis shoes and I about lost it.
