The positions you want to apply for are "PSE MAIL PROCESSING CLERK" or "PSE SALES & SVCS/DISTRIBUTION ASSOCIATE".

With PSE MPC you'll end up working in a processing plant or distribution center. You'll basically be doing this:

PSE SSDA is different. You'll more than likely end up working behind the scenes of a regular neighborhood post office and your begin time will probably be around 12 midnight. You scan packages (more than likely heavy ass Amazon boxes) with a "ring scanner", the computer shows you a letter-number combo like Y7 or C32, and you place the package in a large metal container or pouch that corresponds to that letter-number combo. Compared to MPC, it's lot's of heavy lifting and walking.

There's also "Mail Handler Assistant", but all Mailhandlers do is heavy lifting. They bring the mail to clerks so it can be sorted.

As for actually landing the job? You need luck. You see, when USPS hires for a position, they only keep the job posting open for a total of 5 days. So you have to be lucky enough to catch an opening in your area within that 5 day period. Just check the website everyday.

After you apply, you take a super easy test that's more like a personality survey and then it's a waiting game. They'll contact you by e-mail to setup and interview. If you get an e-mail for a background check and drug test after the interview, that means they're probably going to hire you if you pass.

After about 2 years, you become a regular employee and that means you can bid on other jobs through an internal bidding system. Most people think of USPS as your mailman and the people who sell you stamps at service windows in their local post office. However, there's literally tens of thousands of other jobs titles within the postal system that people don't know about; everything from nursing, to engineering, to law, to IT, and business.
