IMO it's much better framing things around coercion vs consent than around hierarchy per se... you run up against this problem kind of like the gratis/libre thing where English has one word for "a pyramid of relationships of domination created and sustained by violence" and "one entity is or has more of something than something else" (which is often just, like, facticity, and only acquires some moral valence when it's used as the basis for the first "hierarchy").

And then you can ask, well, how many relationships or how much of a relationship should be created through violence? And they're usually going to be like, "none, duh." And then you get anarchism.
