It's probably not the same thing, but I've had people tell me I have good looking features but still look ugly because I have a huge scar on my left cheek (my dad slashed it when I was a kid). It's just depressing, because I could look a lot better if it wasn't for that, and I think it scares people away. I hate posting face pics, so you guys are gonna have to take my word here.
