First tattoo, pain is managable, though there are some parts that hurt more or less. For me the worst so far was near the elbow and the ditch, probably the worst spot is the inner part between the two. But you can sit through it most of the time.
As for work, I am a structural engineer and studying translation/interpreting at the same time. I started my sleeve after getting the job, nobody bat an eye, even though noone else had any visible ones. There were a few questions, but neither bosses ever indicated I shouldn't do it. And ofc I got one that I can cover with a long sleeve shirt and noone would know, lets say if I had to go to a meeting with clients (not like many cared I think).
Get one that can be covered up, don't get any stuff just for getting it. Think about it plenty, pros and cons (there are plenty), I was throwing around the idea for about 1.5-2 years before starting it, plus I have enough money at this point to get a quality work done.

First stick and poke I did for myself. Have some other tats on my shins/calves done by a pro. Thinking about turning it into a dotwork moon.

I’ve had this photo saved for a couple years now and I seriously want to get something similar, albeit smaller and just on my shoulder blade.
