>> No.14990318

>>14990310
I assume you're in the UK? You'll mainly find that on UK ebay. The made in England *which you'll find on other clothing retailers in the UK) usually dates back prior to 2000.

After that most manufacturing was outsourced abroad.

As for the brand, it's up there with Burberry in terms of quality. The item itself is really dependant on the materials sued, so if it lists them, you can generally tell if it came from the higher or lower end of manufacture.

>> No.14990332

>>14990310
Further to my post, I think I found the very item. That's definitely a 90s and beyond jacket. The label shows that too, I would say it's going to be 100% wool and likely a viscose type lining.

It's actually a high price based on age and the fact there are no trousers with it. Which shows the original value of the item, but still, I think it's overpriced.

The main thing you need to be careful of in older items is the likelihood it will have shoulder pads to varying to degrees of size which can and will look out of place today so you'd have to remove them.

The best thing people can do who purchase older items is to learn some basic tailoring and stitching. I have picked up Italian tailored clothing for next to nothing that are a luxury brand but a little older. Made a few adjustments like slimming the arms slightly and taking in the sides and they look perfect.

>> No.14990424

>>14990392
>>14990397
No prob, yeah while a quick reply isn't a good thing, they don't appear to have enough items to be a full time seller so I would assume they also have another job.

The arm length is important and ties into the surgeon's cuffs part. If it is too long, and they are actual cuff button holes you can only really shorten them at the shoulder which is a much harder and longer job than shortening at the cuff which is simple so long as the button holes are not real.

Shoulder pad removal is pretty simple, just needs to open the thread inside on the liming a few inches, remove pad and re-stitch which is why basic stitching helps people.

That's why I would want to know the lengths, shoulder pads, and materials used. It will have a label on the inside pocket with that on but they have no picture of that.

Like I said though, single jackets (orphaned suit jacket) without trousers don't command a high price always, you'd have to wear them mainly in an spezzato setting with totally different trousers to give a clear indication they are not meant to be matching.

Here's what I'm wearing today. The pants have a nice taper to them which, next to straight fit, is my preference. Don't let this fool you though. I wear jeans and flannels, sweatpants, and camo as well. I just wear what the situation calls for. I survive on a mixture of money earned while working in IT, the stipend from grad school, and parental support, so my life is not entirely earned (possibly not at all). I dress like this some days to look professional although I go to a lot of events, so I'm often expected to look nice. I'm equally at home in coveralls in a deer stand and my version of smart tends to be a bit more garish than what /tip/ recommends as canon. That's fine by me based on the fits I usually see posted including the inspo, but I'm a faggot who reads The Rake magazine, so take that with a very large grain of salt. I have no idea if this is comforting or not. Sorry for the blog.

I've been lurking here for a while just because it's entertaining but it's still never clear whether or not many of you are genuine or shitposting especially when anons take their own picture since any rational person knows it fucks with perspective. I've done my best to give a perspective that shows my midsection in case you're genuine, if not then congrats. I took the bait. The rise and cut of the pants are fine (mid/high rise, straight) although not comparable with bespoke. The length of the sweater is literally perfect though, so I assume you're just shitposting. Inspo was very helpful though. Thanks, Anon. The one tricky thing about the white ones is that they have the sheerness of linen, so I'm afraid that they'll look out of place with anything that's not cotton or linen. I suppose I should just treat the houndstooth pants as a patterned grey pant and not fuss over it too much. I really like the concept of wearing them casually though and not exclusively as separates like I do with most of my tailored pants.

Whatever. Any job I get will also probably have me dressing nicer anyways. I've been relying on cords and chinos though, so it's not like I've been slumming it. You've cobbled together a bunch of articles you like but have put together an incoherent outfit. The sweater and pants work fine together, but the shirt is out of place with everything else and the jacket is too similar to the sweater. I can forgive the jacket if you didn't have anything else suitable for the weather, but that shirt is a crime.

Rugby shirts are durable, heavy and keep you warm although I'd only advise to wear it in the spring as it's too warm to wear in the summer and too cold to wear in winter, maybe you could wear it on cool days in autumn, it depends where you live though. They can look very nice although you have to pick the right one, preferably one in solid, or one with thin stripes; bold stripes are a quite ugly and people will say you look like Chris Chan.
