Did WIP change how their shit fits? I have a WIP chore coat from like 2010 in L and the sleeves are slightly too long.
I went and tried an admittedly different model of coat from them the other day and the L's sleeves were way fucking longer.
Sleeves on M were better but my shoulders and pot belly are too big for the M to feel good though.

Don't you know what Carhartt WIP is? It's a fashion brand based on a work wear brand.
Or did you think contractors are actually buying that shit to work in?

Wear whatever you want, but I just find it kind of off-putting to see a dude who looks like he's never even looked at a shovel wearing clothing meant for manual labor. I think it's a city thing, but I don't know. Some dude yesterday said he really liked my carhartt jacket and asked how I managed to age it so well. I just kind of shrugged and said "I work in it". Jacket I was just about to cop sold out today. It was there this morning, took a shower and got dressed: it's gone.
I asked in the WIP store when they expect to get more of it.
>August? That's like a summer and we're about to do winter now...
So in Australia all the stores are still filled with t-shirts and shorts and they're about to unpack jackets that will be unwearable until at least May.

these threads always confuse me. Aren't american companies legally required to provide safety equipment for employees and thus unlikely to choose Carhartt over high volume more utilitarian stuff like hi-viz and/or company branded coveralls, boots etc. ?

Do Burgers have to buy their own workwear or is every anon that posts about wearing them at work an off the books mexican roofer one step ahead of La Migra ?

Clothes meant for work need to be aged organically. I understand workwear is a style all it's own, but if you don't work with your hands it shows.

I'm a steamfitter from St Catharines Ontario and I can say without fear of hyperbole that if we see some Toronto soi boy LARPing in clean untouched work gear at one of our bars, we will ask them what they do for work. If they answer that they're in IT or some other soi profession, they WILL get beat up, or at the very least severely bullied and chased out of the bar, for appropriating our culture.

It's like wearing military fatigues having never served.

they do though

they have CSA certified boots (although they're not great) and they have arc ratings for if you're doing electrical work and their work shirts are NFPA certified

Except military men don't give any fucks they just wonder why anyone would wear military clothing without getting paid to do it.
