There are two reasons to buy Docs:

1) you have some staid punk investment in a mediocre take on classic combat boots, in which case you should move the fuck on from the ‘80s, and if unable to do so should follow the advice ITT about alternatives

2) You’re one of those people with no taste who buys something because it’s the popular item in its category. You should stop being this person and seek out better quality boots. Solovair or made in England doesn’t count – you’re the same person now but pretentious.

A friend has a pair of Postmans resoled with Vibram Sierras – 100% hits the same chunky blucher thing people get out of low Docs but with some elegance to it. (IMO the stock wedge sole on the Postman is an abomination, though.)
