Seriously, when was the last time they released a new shoe design that was actually good?

They're just surviving of old models

Vintage is in right now desu, wish adidas would get on the vintage wave cause they have a lot of top tier vintage designs that need to get produced again.

Also, tonnes of people are buying those new hideous air maxes, normies have no taste.

Where have you been, Adidas has been re-releasing their classics for a while now in different colors too. Right now I'm wearing sambas with green stripes for example, and they also heavily pushed their Spezial last year around this time

Most new shoes are just clown tier, it makes more sense to rely on older models. Not to mention a lot of their shoes like the Air Force 1 are popular among highschool girls right now

Nike has been maintaining their brand image off of old models since 2005. Phil Knight stepped down in 2004 and it's been a downhill slide in terms of innovation and quality since then.

They make tons of money off crap like Monarchs, No-name forgettable crap like initiators, cheap team basketball shoes... they had a hit with Roshes a few years back and the 270 has done very well with the masses...but there's been no real innovation like there was pre-04 when Knight was at the helm. Just re-hashed old ideas, bigger Air Bubbles and tons and tons of retros/re-releases.

Nike has a stable of classics and they've sustained their notoriety brand image through age old models and nostalgia for well over a decade. Nobody gives a fuck about their new releases and even half of those are reiterations or reinterpretations of classic 20+ year old designs.

Nike doesn't care anymore. They don't have to, people still buy their shit. I have no idea how they sustain themselves on this business model but the nostalgia factor and hype associated with some models is enough I suppose. The prices have gone up, the quality has gone waaay down but people still eat it up. Myself included.

>when was the last time they released a new shoe design that was actually good?

To answer this.... I'd say the last shoe they had that made MAJOR waves in the industry, was the SHOX lineup in 2000. This is the last innovation that completley deviated from anything a brand had done before, looked extremely radical and different, and spawned a slew of imitations from competing brands.

React Element 87 had potential in 2018, especially after the Undercover models. But then Nike stopped caring about them for some reason.

Sneakers are mostly for people who are in Jr High and High School, and people wearing them to exercise (and subsequently care more about features like support). They don't NEED to innovate, because normal people only care about them for 4-6 years.

I'm not saying that you're a worse person if you like/collect sneakers. I'm just explaining why they don't sink a ton of R&D into creating new and innovative products. Nike makes those things in Asian sweatshops using inexpensive materials and cheap labor, and sells them for $200, with a fanbase that is constantly being replaced. The collector is niche in comparison to that group.

100% this. I didn't have a single pair of nike's in my collection until I bought these proto react Jordans. They looked good in the advert, but when they arrived, the color looked absolutely gaudy and the entirety of the design was stupid nigger garbage. The only redeeming quality of the shoe is that I can return it immediately. Just don't do it.

I would say that the vapormaxes are a nice design but not very wearable. Also liked the react elements

If you don't have any Nikes, i wouldn't call that a sneaker collection. It's the greatest company of all time, when it comes to sneakers.

You ordered safety orange sneakers and when you received safety orange sneakers, you realized, you fucked up. Good, but maybe, just maybe, it's not the fault of the footwear company.

You ordered a recent Jordan model in safety orange and you're surprised, that you received "stupid nigger garbage"...No comment.

I don't know anyone who gives a solitary shit about them. Then again, my friends are white and blue collar people, not people who spend their lives in the service industry without managing anything. Hell, even the nurses I know don't give a shit about their sneakers beyond pure comfort.

But it's only shoes, their vintage style jackets/sweatshirts range is extremely lacking.

And how is that an answer to anything? Many people live their lives inside a bubble and don't have the slighest idea about what's happening outside their little bubble called greater world.

Why do people still have this misconception that only unsuccessful people aka "people who spend their lives in the service industry without managing anything" wear sneakers? Wake up, it's not the 1800s anymore. Welcome to the 2nd decade of the 21th century.

Talking about sneaker culture without Nike is like talking about fastfood chains without McDonalds.

Not him, but he said white collar people he knows don't care, and blue collar people he knows don't care, and that nurses he knows don't care beyond comfort.

This reflects my experience, as well. Most white collar workers care about oxfords. Most blue collar workers care about work boots.

>It's not the 1800's anymore.
Yeah, you already said that. That doesn't magically prove that most adults give a shit about sneakers, because they almost never have occasion to wear them (and those that do often concern themselves with comfort and support more than style).
