Are they /fa/ or just an emo meme gone too far?

They are acceptable.

Look into the Solovair version of the doc martens if you wish to take the meme a step further

I wear them. Quite a lot, actually. I have like two or three pairs at the moment. They're all the taller models, 10-14-eyelets. Docs are pretty crappy boots, but I live in the city and they're fine enough for the shows and festivals I attend and the occasional visits to the countryside. If the soles crack, I get a cobbler to resole them. If the leather cracks open, I can get a cobbler to stitch and patch the crack up. Tho if you learn to clean and polish them regularly then that won't be a likely problem.

Pic related is me posing with my oldest, most beat-up pair.

I should add that I mostly buy my Docs (and other shoes and boots) used, the most I've payed for was 100€ on a near-mint pair of 1914s. I don't see that +150€-price tag as worthy, unless maybe if we're talking about those MiE-boots. But even then, they don't really produce any neat, classic models like the 14i-boots on that line. They've seemed to focus more on low-top, more fast fashion-oriented models (like all the printed leather and stuff). Which is fine, because at least we still have NPS, Gripfast and Grinders. Well, at least until Brexit lmao

I bought the nappa 1460s maybe like... A month back?
I have been oiling them twice a day (on days I wear them) with a mixture of lanolin oil, neatsfoot oil and macadamia oil.
Probably completely unnecessary but I heard about a method of using mink oil liquid to break in new boots like that and this mix is like my non-mink alternative to that.
The nappas probably do not require any real breaking in and I think that leather probably does not crack and split like the stuff they normally use. It is quite thin, however.

They're a punk meme you uncultured swine. They are good and go with anything if you dress in any rock music subculture related style.
I agree with Punk Anon that they aren't worth the price, but I'd caution against buying used especially if you're not familiar with UK/EU sizing, or how the boots fit in general. Find a place you can try them on if possible.

WAR BAD, but I can see the connection with milsurp. Black boots, tacticool pants and pouches, jackets and stuff. I just happen to wear Docs the most.

>> No.14919431

People keep saying you break them in. I wore my docs like 50 times and it never didn't blister my heels. Now I have giant dots for scars on my heels and uncomfortable, unwearable shoes rotting in my closet. Such a fucking meme.

>> No.14919468

Yeah, but d-beat warriors don't wear tacticool pants, they wear tight black jeans, and leather or black denim jackets. I guess there's bullet belts, but if you see a punk and think
>LARPing as a milfag
Are you from under a rock or what?

You sound a bit like me but it was Florsheim wingtips that fucked my shit up, mostly.
So my advice to you would be:
*try vivobarefoot shoes. my go-to pair right now are gobi ii leather ones. they did actually take a little breaking-in, in the toe, before they got very comfortable.
*LINER SOCKS. I'll wear something like an icebreaker liner sock under an icebreaker hiking medium+ or an injiinji coolmax liner sock under some other hiking sock. it's not cheap to have a lot of socks like this but they make you almost blister proof.

If you know how to fashion you can have them. It's just about connecting it with something that doesn't make you look like a huge emo core fag

>> No.14919865

bought them here in italy and everyone compliments them, luckily they are not connected to emo or punk culture as shops don't sell the 1460s. I'd say that if you wear them in good style they can look really good.
