Can anyone tell me any stories they have about buyers remorse?

Like for expensive stuff you realized you didn't need or it didn't fill the hole inside you like you thought it would

I bought an OCBD from Uniqlo, but I didn't realize it was "slim fit". I ripped off tags like a tard too so I couldn't return it. I can still wear it under a blazer or sport coat, but it looks too tight on its own.

a few years ago I bought some $200 windbreaker/ chore jacket on a whim because I was in Melbourne and just wanted to get something. I tried to buy it the first time but my card got declined like 5 times and the cashier guy started to look suspicious. I had to walk to the bank and fix it then walk back (1-2km walk total) because I felt obliged to buy it after kind of wasting their time and making a fool of myself even though I didnt really want it anymore. wore it once or twice then gave it to a friend for free. Still regret it to this day.

their ocbds do seem to shrink though so I wouldn't cop again until I myself stop being fat.

when you work a retail job you see stuff like that all day so you should internalize the idea that no shop assistant even remembers you being poor or spergy: because it's true.
the only person thinking about the humiliating moments in your life is you.

This, thrift, milsurp and outlet/discount stuff is 90% of what I own. I usually buy one pair of jeans every other year and obviously socks and underwear are bought new too.

On topic of the thread though in general I wish I didnt buy so many cringey band shirts in my teens and early twenties.

I am the perfect person for this thread. I just inherited a good amount of money. I've been broke as fuck up until mid December. This sudden change has money burning a hole in my pocket but I come to senses rather quickly and luckily most things can be returned.

Heres my top list of buyers remorse/void filler so far.

>$650 down goose comforter by cuddle down
The entire time i'm thinking of how fucking dumb it was to blow that much on a comforter, lots of buyers remorse but the other half of my brain is saying no it's fine just think of it like an investment.
"Just think of it like an investment" I tell all the time and sometimes it works and is true other times it's just a shit excuses. I opened up the comforter and was pretty disspointed. There were already feathers coming out. I slept with it for one night and returned it. Decided to go w/ another brand that was less expensive.
>Contax t2
I wanted this meme film camera for fucking FOREVER it's like $800-1k it was the first expensive thing I bought with my money I was so fucking excited to get it in the mail until I realize my social life is shit and I rarely have oppurtunities to take cool pictures. It filled the void for about 3 days before it got here. Hoping I can use it when I start traveling though.
>2019 16in Macbook pro
Im studying CS so I used the investment excuse for this too but my old 2015 MBP is completely fine so the 2019 MBP filled the void for about a day. Don't feel much remorse as I'm sure I'll utilize it in the future.
>65in smart tv
I don't even watch it. It just plays in the back ground while I shitpost. It's way to big for my room and looks dumb as shit. Filled the void for approxiamtely 1 hour.
>Clothes
Bought a lot of clothes, returned a lot of clothes. Most of my buyers remorse was form carhartt wip. so expensive and so shit quality and fit wise. I also blew $300 on shit from uniqlo and got bored with it all after 3 weeks.

More fashion mistakes I made before i even had a disposable income

>Raf simons velcro highs
paid about $600 for them and rarely wore them because they looked really out of place on me.

>Common projects tournament highs
They were too small but I didn't want to return them because i wanted to wear them so bad and convince my self they would stretch out. They never did and I never wear them. lots of buyers remorse that could have easily been avoided if i wasn't such a dumb ass

>Ann Demeulemeester spike high top sneakers
They looked cool in the pictures but dumb as fuck on me. Sent them back with lightening speed.

>Iphone 11 pro
I had the iphone X and it was totally fine but I still bought the new iphone a couple days ago it filled the void for a whole 45 seconds when I unwrapped it. same with the airpods pro

>Mechanical keyboard shit
So underwhelming each unboxing. The task of setting it up sucks out anything it would have filled the void up with. I'm completely over it when I'm done assembling it.

>Vitamix 35000
I thought this was going to be like a mini garbage disposal in a cup that could cut through diamonds. It's industrial like a tank but pretty mediocre. It still need liquids to blend a smoothie like any-other blender. My food processor works better for nut butters too. I would have more buyers remorse if it didn't look so damn good on my counter top.

Looking back at my purchases I can say I've gotten a lot better with my frivolous spending. Returning things feels very cathartic and responsible. I love seeing refunded money in my account. I am still a slave to Amazon though. I have something coming in the mail from them almost everyday.

thanks, kind of on topic with this thread i came up with this rule over the last year while i was broke that when thinking of buying something if I get even a faint feeling of indecisiveness about it I drop it immediately and don't buy it. It works well if you're an impulsive spender. probably easier said than done though.

I’m less concerned with the things you’re listing to us and more concerned with the stupid shit you didn’t tell us about that you think you need. I dated a girl once who inherited 10k. She was 23 and she had only ever cleaned houses and mooched. She blew through the ten thousand in 2 months. You remind me a lot of her

I don't want to blow it all away I promise. It's a lot more than 10k thankfully and I'm serious when I say I'm done splurging. I am good at being frugal I was for a while up until recently. It would be really embarrassing if 5 years from now my family asked how I was doing and I tell them I'm broke again. I have too much pride. The person I inherited it from came from nothing. I would feel like shit if I blew through it while knowing that. I feel really guilty when I buy dumb shit which is why I return a lot of it. I listed all the big expenses I've bought so far besides a couple of things I decided to treat my self to bc fuck it you can't take money to the grave.

Sometimes I get a kind of owners burden from thrift stuff, I just buy it because its cheap and then it lies around at my house unworn and looks bad with the rest of my clothes in the wardrobe and then I have to get rid of it which usually ends up taking more time and money than it took to buy it.

their job is to sell you services which enrich the bank they work for, they don't have any interest in maximizing your profit. Of course they're not going to admit that. It's better if you read up on risk-averse investment and make a plan yourself. You're portfolio should be diverse and include several asset types. For example an index fund and some precious metal ETFs.

I'll keep that in mind but I really need advice on how to fix my credit. I paid off most of my debts so now I just need to open a credit card account. My friends suggested to pay my student loans off for 2 years with a credit card to bring it up then just pay it all off instead of paying it all off now. I'm still trying to decide what kind of bank I want to use. Right now im using a local branch but I'm considering using Ally for my savings. I have 15k in gold but it needs to go through probate first before I can touch it

Two years ago, I bought a 70 dollar wool blend pea coat from Old Navy in a large size. Bought it out of impulse because I was in a hurry to buy a peacoat after seeing it in AlphaM and Teachingmenfashion. The problem is that I'm 5'7" with a 36" chest and 28" waist at the time, so the peacoat was obviously very baggy. I have only worn it once.
