Best chinos under 100USD that are mid to high rise?
Getting real tired of my low rise pants looking like shit when I want to tuck in a shirt

>> No.14882549

>>14882496

Wanted to ask this as well but in the UK - I've got a pair of Charles Tyrwhitt ones but they're more mid-low I'd say. I've realised just how perfect higher rise trousers with a shorter jumper is - looks very aesthetic

>> No.14882764

>>14882496
In my experience, I've found four sources of cheap mid-high rise pants, three of which are consistent

>spier and mackay : gonna have to buy on sale to reliably get into budget, and they come raw and have to be hemmed. buy the contemporary fit, consult their size charts. great materials and construction
>lands end ; their "traditional fit" is quite roomy, quite drapey, quite high rise. lots of colors and details available, they hem and cuff them for you. reliably on sale for $35-$70. ALL of their wool options have poly lining to the knees, this can be removed if desired, their cotton options are often 1-2% stretch. this might be personally an issue
>wallace and barnes ; this is one of J Crew's higher end sub lines, they make some awesome pieces with lovely vintage details and frequently don't sell out and end up in the sale section for <$60 with a ton of sizes left. in my experience, any of their pants/trousers that are described as having a roomy or old school fit are mid-high rise with great proportions. bonus, they're almost always 100% natural fibers and have AMAZING construction for the price. possible downside, they rarely if ever have dress trousers or more formal wear. their pants usually range from rugged vaguely outdoorsy shit, which can occasionally work with /tip/, to flat front unpressed chinos, which do take a crease decently, you just have to do it yourself.
>thrifting ; self explanatory, this is not consistent but can offer really good deals. if you don't have a good thrift store in your town, check out the ebay roundups on putthison and start learning how to search ebay for good shit and how to read measurements and find garments that will likely fit without the benefit of trying them on

The "muh drape" pants, the rolled up cuffs, the too big jacket, combined with that form-fitting sweater showing off how scrawny you really are makes it a super bottom heavy fit. You look like a senior in HS still in that awkward growth-spurt phase, wearing his dad's clothes for picture day because the only respectable clothes you had beforehand is that green sweater that's meant to be worn with modern slim-fit menswear.

That's just the clothes, scroll up a bit more and your scrawny ass neck, peach-fuzz facial hair, pale soft "never outdoors" skin, and fucked up mop of hair complete's the "Senior Picture Day" look.

First of all it's a jacket, how can you not differentiate between the two? Second of all I know it's not a perfectly fitting jacket but its certainly not too big, pic related.
>>big "muh drape" pants and rolled cuffs.
Of course the trousers won't be slim, I'm trying to emulate a trad look which has traditional cuts. I see nothing wrong in cuffs, care to elaborate? They make a fit more relaxed and add weight to the bottom of the trousers giving more "revolting" drape, well I guess it is personal preference.
>form-fitting sweater
>that green sweater that's meant to be worn with modern slim-fit menswear
I have no clue were you got the idea that I'm wearing a slim-fit jumper since I have a jacket on top but okay. Jumpers have always been quite close fitting (expect for in the 80's and 90's), just look at photos of preps in the fifties and sixties and you'll see what I mean.

looking tip is not about "trying" to send a message to people (like "Hi I am a wealthy person"). It's about having good taste, developed through much work and passion about fine quality clothes, food, entertainment, social life. Good quality doesn't just apply to clothing it applies to everything, people, cars, houses. If you ever start to ask "what message am I sending", this is wrong, you should not care about what anyone thinks, you should only focus on the clothes themselves and the way they make you feel. When you are wearing drapey cords, a soft wool or tweed blazer, and some decent leather-soled shoes, with an ocbd of course, you will feel tip. Because the clothes are decent, because you can tell, what is good and what isn't, and what you think will go well with what you already have. Nothing is more muthafucking comfy than drapey relaxed cords or khakis, of good quality. But just remember, you don't have to always dress that way, but just no you can flick the switch when you want.

the whole "essence" of tip, is you should look good, not trying too hard, but not formal, and you should look civilized, but in a non-chalant way.
But just show that you have some knowledge that it's not ok to wear a t-shirt in public, t-shirts are underwear, just that little bit of "attempt" at something more virtuous than the streetwear shit jogging pants crap that everyone wears because they have no clue about proper dressing or manners.

Just that little bit, that shows you understand there is a context for things, and that it is completely possible to be overdressed. You should look like you enjoy a casual yet luxurious life (not luxurious in the sense that you are snobby, or wasteful, but that you have a certain understanding and expectation about the quality levels of things, and that you are carefree, and have access to resources). And when you actually wear and experience good quality things, they actually make your life better (I know it's a shocker).

The sizing is good and his comments are retarded, but technically he's right about the terminology. Traditional tailors will call this a coat, as a jacket by definition ends at the natural waist – like a bolero, for instance. That's why it's still called a "tailcoat" and not a tail jacket, for example, or likewise, a sportcoat. You're thinking of an overcoat or topcoat, garments distinct from a coat.

I mean, I know everyone says jacket in daily use though, so you're not wrong as such.

>Your pants are comedically high rise, they should end a bit below your navel
INCORRECT
Any trousers that end below the navel are low-rise. At the navel is mid-rise. Anything properly cut, ending at your natural waist, will inevitably and necessarily be above the navel.

>> No.14883742

Most of my pairs of pants do end right at my navel. I don't think it makes me, or anyone else, look shorter either. I feel like it does the exact opposite by lengthening the line of the leg. When the waistband is right at the buttoning point of your jacket, that, to me, looks the best.

>> No.14884008

>>14883770
How do high rise pants make you look shorter if you wear a jacket over them anyway, retard? You can't *see the waistband* under there, in fact half the point of high rise is to prevent the gross triangle under the jacket button that low-rise pants show. (The other half of the point is comfort, unrivaled comfort)

Mid-rise trousers would look great on you. Other than that, they look like a cheap linen trousers that are bulky on the tigh area, but it could be a combination of shitty camera and angle that makes it look like that. Also, generally you want to wear a belt if you trousers have belt loops. Get a pair with suspender slots or side adjusters if you want that clean waist/hip look.
The sports coat looks a tad too big, but we cant tell as you have taken the picture at a terrible pose for determining the fit. It is padded, right? The tie looks boring, and i cant discern the material from this pic. Shirt fit is not great.
Shoe-wise, they are not bad because they are beat up, but because they aren't that good to begin with and they are disconnected from the rest of the outfit. Thick and asymmetrical rubber soles like that are very undesireable for more formal fits.
Color-wise, stone gray, white and navy is a mediocre color combination. Not great, but still serviceable. Brown really does not go well with that palette, though.
Overall, not bad, but definitely can be improved.

It's hard to get good seersucker suits nowadays, I think Suitsupply did one a year or two back but they always do that slim fit shit and you want seersucker (any warm-weather/tropical fabric, really) to fit loose. You might have to go the tailoring route.

The fit in your pic is pretty great honestly, a loose-weave shirt and a traditional Hawaiian pattern tie that isn't too loud or obnoxious.

With a polo shirt and chino shorts you won't look too much out of place, what place do you expect to go? There are areas in mediterranean full of brits, americans, austrians and others: Magaluf, Valletta, Benidorm, Nice, Mykonos... In those places what people wear is no different to what you are used to see if you are american.
