I don't fucking get it, how can you afford it?
How is it that every time someone says that they buy at Zara's or something you call them "poorfags" or if they don't have a $5k sweater then they're "poorfags" as well. I have a well paying job and I'm just 25, enough to pay my mortgage, put food on the table for me and my wife, pay the bills and still have some extra money for myself, but even If I have enough to buy some $10k jacket, why would I when I can get the exact same shit for less. Does it has to do with the struggle? is it the fact that you didn't have enough to eat and pay rent for a month but you got your grail what makes it /fa/? don't take me wrong, if it's some romanticized struggle kind of shit then I get it. But still. I doubt everyone on here are crypto millionares. I feel like it's most likely 15y-olds hypefags mommy's credit card and wannabe-rich larpers.

This is a problem among younger people and, by extension, 4chan. The rest of the fashion world thrifts and buys clothes on discounts and sales or get things like samples or display pieces.
The people that buy designer clothes new (and who aren't crazy rich) just budget well, keeping a small wardrobe and buying one expensive piece at a time.

Tried once with a 5k croc. skin jacket and at the end of the day I barely wear it, and I do still enjoy going to Zara from time to time, fast fashion and everything but there’s some pieces that me and my wife enjoy and don’t really see often. Got her a nice little pleated cashmere skirt the other day with a plaid pattern. Are pieces like that why I keep going, it was like $70 or something.

let me help you out bro

1. most here live at home, have hardly any bills and with a minimum paying job can literally spend their whole check on clothes

2. how I did it... think of having a wardrobe as a separate bank account. each month you put away a % of your salary towards buying clothes. fashion is a hobby for me so I probably put aside more than the average. try to buy clothes that retain/hold value. you wont always be as lucky and strike gold with a "archival piece" that will resell for more but if you get at least more than half of your money back i'd say thats a good deal compared to say if you bought a fast fashion jacket which you would just toss/donate for 100% net loss. after reselling clothes you then use that to reinvest back into your wardrobe. im an old fag and have been doing this for 10+ years. now combing the monthly amount I put aside each month and the money i get from reselling you could see that i have a good amount to play around. also I literally only shop twice a year, june/july and december/january when everything goes on sale it goes to 60-80% off. just this month I shamefully spent about 4k on clothes but i'm not worried at all because I know I'll make that right back in the coming weeks when I start reselling things. but I admit this is p fucking bad. try to keep your closet small and sell shit immediately as you lose interest in it.

as a final note. dont compare yourself to other people. like I said previously not everyone has to pay for other shit like you and can devote most of their salary to just being /fa/. or there are just some people that are just rich fags. go at your own pace and one day you'll get to where you want to be.

I didn't even finish college and live in NYC, but just get some boring sales job and save. I literally don't buy anything unless there's a sale and usually there's a bunch left over. I was also always pretty frugal. I can make 20 last longer than most.

Sales for a big company. Someone mentioned earlier about solar panels, you want to get in on something like that. Where you could pretend to sound smart and get idiots to buy your shit. I do pharmaceutical sales and don't really know anything about it, I legit just copied bullshit from Mad Men and movies to bullshit my way into selling doctors products.

Granted, this is 4chan so some of your guys have trouble with people, but honestly, think of these people as fuckers you're never going to see again and it becomes a lot easier to deal with the anxiety. I think I do better with strangers than people I actually know at this point.

OP, most of this board is fantasy, projection, and brand worship. It's the result of being poor, not rich. Actual rich people don't wear Gucci, Prada, etc. They get their clothing bespoke. At best, the richest people here are middle class, but the vast majority are working class - and that's fine. That's how the world works.
One thing you'll notice this that most the pics are models. These very thin, tall people are chosen by advertising agencies to model clothing that is tailored to that model's body. It's just an advert.
If you get clothing that fits, wear it well, and wear it with confidence, you're ahead of the game over 90% of people, especially compared to guys.
We're mostly poorfags, and we wear what we can afford, and what looks good. When we go get really upscale shit, it's probably second hand.

consider the words of the former gov. of california. "a well scultpted body is a status symbol. you cannot buy it, you must earn it."

The solution to being a poorfag is literally to own a sewing machine and learn to operate it in rather basic ways, then to buy high quality stuff on sale or thrift it and alter it to your body's proportions.
