Is long or short hair better for an androgynous look? I currently have longish hair (down to about my chin) but I've been thinking of getting a pixie cut or something like that.

Depends on your face. If you have short hair it can frame your face better, making it potentially look more andro. If you have long hair, it could possibly make your face look narrower and more masculine; it all depends on your face and hairstyle
