Shitposting aside can someone sell me on boots? I’m from Detroit and work for ford so I’ve kinda had the idea that boots are for work only ingrained in me. Apologies for bad photo, but you can see what I was talking about. There's a bunch of little creases forming around the points where I flex my foot, and the strap looks almost cracked. However, I've noticed that scuffs and scratches do gradually self-repair as I wear them, so I'm conflicted on what kind of leather it is.

Are boots made with cuts of horse leather besides the 'shell?' whenever I search for cordovan online it always refers to the super fancy stuff.

Grailed doesn't always have the best prices, but it can be useful just to look through. Same deal with stores that stock """artisianal"""" darkwear stuff (i.e. Atelier NY). Otherwise, there's a bunch of Brands to watch. The shortlist imo is something like:
Guidi itself, Marsell, The Last Conspiracy, 10sei0otto, MA+, A1923, Premiata, Some Carpe Diem stuff, and a handful of others who I'm forgetting right now.

Definitely not shell, not sure why they would advertise it as such. Actual shell looks almost plastic-like. I think I might've been right the first time, and this is regular horsehide.

I come from an agricultural background: why are chukkas and desert boots "boots"? A boot covers above your ankle and has a certain durability of construction as they are to be used for labor.

Now obviously this is fashion and all that, so that whole durability thing doesn't mean much, but I look at chukkas and desert boots and they just seem so flimsy, like tall shoes with too little lacing. Where did they come from? What were they used for before becoming a "style" piece?

I'm no leather expert but it's definitely better than Docs which sell at $140+. I also like them more than Corcorans because the leather on those was rather stiff and seemed like it needed a long break in. I have no other comparisons.
These were pretty nice after a few days of use and hold pretty well so far, aside from scuffs.
