Sup /fa/. I'm spending my first winter in the north and have absolutely no winter essentials. I have no idea when or what gloves, scarves, or hats are appropriate, and didn't find anything on the sticky. Does /fa/ have some advice, webpages, or infographics to get me started?

Pic related, it's a man with a scarf.

Definitely, do not wear a scarf like your in LA, like this hooligan.

Down jackets, windbreakers, unironically worn beanie, scarves, snow and ice serviceable boots, maybe a pair of mits.

Thanks, any examples for the accessories? I don't know what looks good and what looks cheap or tacky.

For gloves, Fingerless is hard to pull off without looking like a larp or homeless,

Coats and jackets are a bit more tough.. It depends on your needs and the look your going for. But as a general rule of thumb, if your buying new and not thrifting, you get what you pay for. arcteryx, Gloverall, Barbour, are all pretty great from what i can see, but they have their pros and cons to the environment that you live in. And they are not exactly cheap.
Stay away from brands that you might buy basics from, if you really want to be toasty outside.

Do not wear a beanie or an ushanka. Both are cringy and childish.

So what do you wear in cold weather? Are you one of those pretentious douche bags freezing their ears off in freezing temperatures?

I'm not a poor wagie who has to work outside, so I just don't have to deal with it. Imagine that.

Well, i guess for the rest of us, those who have to go outside for a period of time to get to our jobs, i think beanies are fine. within reason
