I promised to provide them movements while they provide crowns, sapphire mirrors, etc. I got a source where I can directly buy SII Seiko movements and Miyota 9025 movements(These are used in citizen watches). They are both automatic movements, none of that quartz shit.

All I need is a good logo, brand name is already decided.... Should I pull the trigger lads? Someone talk me out of it or tell me it is a bad idea before I through 10k into this venture.

>The series of Miyota movements based on the 82XX caliber have the Indirect Drive system. Although not every collector will notice it or care about it, all movements with this setup will most likely experience the skipping seconds phenomenon, or it may become more visible in time. It can also depend on the dial and hands of the watch. For example, longer hands may show the stutter to be more dramatic, while less legible dials may make it more difficult to notice. Another factor is the tension in the brake spring… keep reading.

Guys I have a problem, I used to love horology and be into watches, browsing /wt/ in 2016 back when it was still on /g/. But one day my gf got me this G shock from japan, and I literally haven't taken it off since.. Its the "just works" of watches.. With my nicer ones i would always end up scratching the crystal etc being afraid I will break it.
This one is waterproof and solar powered, I even use the alarm function.
I wanna get back into automatic fine time pieces, but its hard for my autism due to g shocks extreme practicality..

Right bro? Its waterproof so you can even shower with it, a lot of low end dressy watches are not, and its a pain to keep taking it off. Also if you switch automatics every few days you will keep having to set the correct time because they die after 48 hrs.
The thing about G shocks is they're actually very high quality, if you look into its history; it was invented by a very based japanese man who made it his goal to make an indestructible watch, he would drop them off 3 story buildings etc. Its the favorite brand of watch for military , police, working men etc.

If I had a Rolex and ended up scratching or worse breaking it, I would be extremely pissed and sad.. And that shit is expensive to fix as well..

They do make some metal models.

But yeah, no shame in loving g shocks. They are definitely a big part of the history of watches. Other watches are fun too, but I dress very casually most of the time, only wears suits for weddings and funerals. I'm sure if I worked in an office or something I could affords more luxury watches and would have more opportunities to wear them.

I definitely feel you there. The G-Shock is just real dependable, and if you lose it, it's no worse than a "huh, would you look at that, it's gone".
I've got a Seiko Samurai for work, but I know that the day it breaks from something or other, I can just go home and pick my G-Shock out of the drawer, and it'll be ticking just fine and be ready to go.

Great movement. The dial is very good but not amazing or memorable (unlike say the RO tapisserie or Aquanaut gradiant) but the day date functionality is useful, unique and very Lange in design. The case and bracelet are a bit bland and generic even if they are very well made. Despite the marketing it's not a sports watch.

I know it's steel but even so it personally felt too light on the wrist. I bet it would be killer in white gold or especially platinum.

It's because you grew up and realized the watch hobby is literally effortless consumerism.

Shooting guns, takes skill

Down hill mountain biking skill intensive

Track days on a Ducati

All of that is harder than buying 5 random watches and a box to hold them in.

There is nothing to the hobby.

Once you buy a Rolex and post it online for zoomers then you won them over

Buy a patek for boomers and boom you're "the" watch expert
