I want some boots and need recommendations. I realize last thread I just said "lol I want boots." I'll copy pasta the relevant info, I appreciate any input you guys have.

I usually dress with jeans (intermountain west, jeans work well here) and a undershirt, shirt, and sweater/button down and pic related on the cold days. I've been wearing Vans for years now, but I want to spend ~$120 on a pair of boots.

I know the sticky says
>School shooter autists with your ugly chunky combat boots and Doc Martens go fuck yourself.
but I am not adverse to some terrorcore stylings.

They're the most aesthetically pleasing modern combat boots. With bates lites being a close second. Some of the most posted shia fits he's actually wearing bates lites and not one of his many pairs of SFBs. It's also important to keep in mind that they are artificially distressed. It would take years of abuse to get them to look even remotely as worn as his.

It's also important to note that they only look good on him because he's fit and mostly wearing thrifted grungy shit with them. You'll look real LARPy real quick if you were them with other milsurp items or like some dumb fuck right out of basic if you pair them with crisp like new streetwear pieces. They literally only look good in the context of the rest of his fits. You gotta go full shiacore, or you'll look like a fucking dork.

If you want the best price to quality ratio?
>Red Wing Iron rangers
I know they're a meme and they get some hate here due to rddt circle jerk but they are objectively really nice boots. Mine are 6 years old and are still going strong. Resolable, retail for about $350 and similarly to the White's they'll last you a long fuckin time and look better with age if you take care of them. Can be found on sale for around $200.

Similar look but slightly cheaper?
>LL Bean Katadin Iron works
The "poor man's" iron ranger, $250 retail if my memory serves correctly

Like the look of Docs?
>Solovair Derby boots
Visually the same as doc martens. $200 instead of $150. Noticable jump in quality for that extra $50. Made in England. If you really want the doc martens brand, spring for their made in england collection, they retail for about $220

Want dirt fucking cheap but still a quality boot?
>Austrian Paratrooper boots
$40-$60 depending on condition/where you buy them. They didn't get meme status by being shit. They're dumb cheap for boots and still made very well.

I own a black pair of the 8i derby boots. The leather is indeed thicker than Docs with raw flesh on the inside. It's still corrected grain like docs but yes it's considerably less plasticky and has been aging much better. It actually feels like leather. I use them as shitkickers and at this point (a little over a year of ownership and wear) they are in a much better place than my mono docs were after the same amount of abuse. I've gone through 2 different pairs of Doc martens 1460 and both failed either during or shortly after their second winter. My first oxblood paircactually had cracks where your foot bends by the toe box just from walking. I cannot vouch for the MiE Doc Martens personally but I've heard the leather is very nice while the soles aren't as hard and wear faster than solovairs.

Newfag here, I just bought a pair of Beckmans today. First time buying a leather shit so I've been parsing through maintenance guides all night. What should my care routine be like exactly? It's hard to tell what parts of these guides are redditors babying their boots and legit actual good advice.

Just brush them regularly and wipe em down if they get especially dirty/salty. Snow is fine as long as you let them dry completely and brush off any salt buildup. Shoe trees help absorb moisture inside the boot. Most people over condition their boots. Once a year is fine. Every six months if they're really looking dry. Leather is skin just like your hand. If it looks like you'd want to put lotion on it like you would your hand then it's probably time.
As for which products to get, just get whatever Red Wing recommends on their website. They'll tell you exactly which ones to get and for what purposes. I use their stuff on my Rangers and it's been great. Making this post actually reminded me I'm almost out so I should get some more for this winter season.
If you're really worried about keeping them looking nice then get a set of shoe trees. They absorb moisture which is a leather killer, eliminate odor and help prevent bad creasing.

tl;dr: get a horsehair brush and brush after every wear to remove salt, get a conditioner from RW's website and use as needed, and shoe trees

Well, was thinking I kinda wanna get some new boots in a correct size for winter (Colorado). Looks like llbean doesn't make these anymore and moved on to make a shittier version. Cedar shoe trees are a MUST. They will keep your leather wrinkles to a minimum. Buy a size lower than your shoe size to be safe.

IMPORTANT: Before wearing the boots for the first time for an extensive period of time: Give them a proper leather treatment, from the ground up with renovateur etc. The whole thing. Chances are that the leather lost most of its fats and nutrients from staying in a shelf for months. That way, your "new wrinkling" will stay at a minimum. The shoes will last longer.

Happens to the best of us.
Depending on your willingness to hunt sales/ buy used, those are always valid options.. I've been told that a1923 can get as low as $500, but that's probably still too much and doesn't happen too often, and even then a1923 in particular makes so many variants that finding the one you want would be difficult.

I would give Corcorans (pic) a fair shake if you're intent on going with a """budget""" option, though it's more accurate to say that a1923 and the like are just very expensive.
There are also a smattering of slightly-lower-cost-but-still-respectable ""artisianal""" options that ape the uber expensive brands. The big players that come to mind are The Last Conspiracy, Marsell, Premiata, and a few others that I'm probably forgetting right now.

What's your budget? Check guides on
/r/goodyearwelt it's more informative than this thread will ever be. From the top of my head Meermin and Bexley on the cheaper side.

Also, this "shit leather" stuff is exaggerated. Yes, Aldo boots are cheaply made and most of them don't look good, but they aren't gonna disintegrate in a week. One time when I needed a pair of boots fast, I got a pair of Aldos for ~30 bucks, walked in them for a season and put in a closet. I bet I could've wear them for a couple of years, but my judgement got bent by internet fashionistas with disregard for anything simpler than $600 boots made from horse ass. And now I buy only Goodyearwelted™ footwear. But most people won't care and a pair of shoes with glued soles might work for you and your wallet just fine.

Thank you so much, i am checking their guide and it is indeed very helpful. Thanks again. By the way my budget is roughly $150 and if I cannot find something that is so called “goodyearwelted” I might just go and buy a pair of timbs (assuming they’re not goodyearweltes). I cannot afford $600 sadly and frankly I don’t think I do need them atm.

Most well known boot brands make boots with full grain leather. Full grain just means the hide hasn't been split or sanded, it's the full hide of the cow, it's thick, it's heavy but it's tough as nails and will last forever.
What are some styles you like and maybe we can list some brands that do that style in full grain

I'm looking into becoming a more serious boot man but don't know what I should go for. I've bought some cheaper pairs around $40-$90 that I enjoyed but they're not aging that well and I'd like to diversify the kind of boots I have. Max budget is $250 right now and I've been looking at Timberlands and Thursday stuff but I want to know what other brands I should be looking at. Ideally I'd like something more on the fashion side since my current work boots are still usable right now but something that's durable and looks nice would be appreciated.

So I bought some new boots and this is the damage I did to my heels in about 30 minutes of walking. My feet seem to be lifting up and rubbing against where the upper begins.

Is this due to needing a smaller size or just a mismatch in shape of feet vs boot? I usually wear a size 12 in sneakers but wear size 11 in previous boots, which is the same as these. I've also tried heel inserts but that did nothing for me.

idk if im even in the right place since i don't give a shit about fashion but there's nowhere else here to ask about boots.

want to grab myself a pair decent durable boots. thinking of iron rangers most likely since i know a lot of folks who swear by them. however i have genetic condition and literally do not have arches. so I need to wear prescription insoles which usually require me to do some 'adjusting' to the shoe in order to make them fit, usually meaning i have to rip out the default insole.

my question is if theres a chance something like this can damage the boot long term or shit like that. getting pretty tired of sneakers that fall apart after less than a year and figure if i can get 5+ years out of something a little higher quality then it would be worth the expense.

forgot pic for reference, I have the full sized kind. the toe area can be cut down in order to make space if needed, but the heel and arch area is usually a hard molded plastic covered in cork or foam. not using them is not an option, without them my knees hips and spine would get all fucked up and the only reason i don't have scoliosis right now is because i've been wearing these since I was able to walk.
