Got in a stupid accident 2 months ago while wearing my watch but fortunately it survived except for the bezel got chewed up pretty bad. I took it to multiple watchmakers who said they arent able to replace the bezel. Should I just have a jeweler buff the scratches out or something?

Just a reminder that if you are under 30 and/or not well of a big expensive watch will look out of place. This bad boy for like 25 bucks will fit you better than something well made and complicated that costs 40 times more.
Spending hundreds on watches when the rest of your outfit is not cutting it is dumb and very noticeable.

I just want to just something with a its own identity that isnt a homeage.

I know, I paid 200€ more for mine. I, too, like the white/champagne dial more - the black The Citizens often have problems with legibility. Grand Seikos have been getting kind of big over the years, all the interesting new releases are 40-42mm. It would be very nice if they did more in the 37-39mm range (especially if the cases were slightly less bulbous). A 37mm snowflake would be a dream come true.

That's what I like about these earlier The Citizens, they are all quite nicely sized and balanced.

Yea it's a shame really. They're certainly capable of making them smaller but I guess that's the size their buyers want.
The citizen is better sized at 37mm, and the autistic attention to detail is at least comparable, if not on par with, GS watches. Once the chance arises I'll probably get a white dial 59B to be honest .

For your consideration. The submarine steel is darker, and allows the watch to be thinner, but I heard it scratches more easily. I personally dont even get scratches on SS watches, but if thats your thing, hey. The aero steel watch is also heavier, dont know if you like "wrist presence" or lightness in a watch. I wouldnt bother with the meme bracelet. The DS30 is on backorder, the DA36 is available right now.

Around the Arctic Circle it ain't too bad. People wear the same shitters here as everywhere else, and you get used to, or dress for the cold weather.
If you're thinking about the sun fucking off for a few months, that really isn't a problem unless you'll spend your time up there being fantastically drunk, to the point of not knowing if it's noon or midnight, and being too incapacitated to look through a window to look for the little glint of sun. They had the "we have our niche and we don't give a fuck what other people do because we are the best at our game" thing going for them and now they look like one of those other shit tier companies that try to emulate sport watches only to be completely crushed.

The reason they gave is even worse.
>For years collectors have asked us to create a water resistant sports watch
So fuck them let them buy a sub, RO, nautilus or Overseas.

Why enter a market that damages their image, catering to fuckboys and deviating from timeless classic designs, and that they have no chance of winning over because those people will simply continue wearing Nautilus and RO?

Guys, what's the deal with Rolex? Is the demand for new watches so high that you're looking at waiting a not insignificant amount of time to get one if you buy one (and if so, does anyone have a rough idea of how long?) and the used market's prices ranging from obscene to perverse coming as a result of people with more money than time paying any price for that instant gratification?
...or am I missing something, and it's an entirely different thing?
I was looking at my nearest (just over 450 km lol) Rolex AD's website, and the prices didn't seem that bad for something as, let's say hyped-up, as a Rolex. For sure, you could get three Tudors or sixteen Seiko 5s for the price, but that's another story.

>> No.14740690

>>14740672
Demand is particularly concentrated among a select few of the steel sports models. Panda Daytona, Pepsi / Batman GMTs are the most wanted. Steel Subs and Sky-Dwellers are also very popular

Waiting lists really depend on your client standing, geography and dealer, but my local AD (large dealer in a major US city) typically has a 2-5 year wait for most of those models for a newer client, and I've seen more than a few cases where they've flat out refused to even put someone on the list unless theyre a known quantity

>> No.14740721

Well shit, I was looking at just a steel Sub. I might just have to give the guy a call and hear with him.

Aw shit, I could have had a whole lot more of that if I hadn't bought my other watches from the closer store.
Suppose I'll call the AD in the capital too, hear if the waiting time is any better at one dealer than the other.

Definitely doesn't hurt to check around, could always get lucky with a more favorable supply / demand in different cities.

Holy shit, customer is ready to sue US, the jewelry store, because the service-center chimps still aren't done with his watch. I'm not going to take responsibility for the shit of some other clown, so if upper-management points the finger at me for not constantly holding the service center's hand and phoning them, while I have twenty battery changes a day, and fifty serious repairs a month, then I'll threaten to walk.

I already have enough shit on my plate taking responsibility for myself, I don't feel like taking it for the shit of others.

>> No.14740982

>>14740975
What manner of assclowns are working at the service center, then? How long have they taken to fix the watch? Is there a chance of you making them push the thing forwards? Can you give the service center's number to the customer, or have the center call him?
And, uuh, which watch are we talking about here? Is the guy a regular customer, and/or a big buyer? Clearly you should be able to give him some preferential treatment if he's dropping in with a Patek or something, or if he's a regular shopper. Some bum who dropped by with a Vostok or similar won't do shit about his stuff being delayed.

>> No.14741002

>>14740982
Service center drones are all fucking clowns. If they weren't they'd be independents. I've had to clean up a few times after them, last time it was an automatic Fortis, now I have a Longines that may have had a screw not properly tightened by the service chimps (not the first time I see/hear of this, there's a conspiracy theory that they do this on purpose). The watch is a Maserati, a somewhat well built fashion-shitter brand that doesn't go above ETA 2824 levels. It was left with us at August 3. because of water ingress, I told the guy this usually takes a month. So nearly three months ago.

I tried calling the service center after the first month, but their phones were dead. Turns out it was their shop that had water ingress! But anyway last I checked with them was about the beginning of October, and from what I can piece together, they need a new dial and only just started working on it! They don't call neither us nor the owner about anything, but that's kinda the usual, service centers don't communicate shit. Either way just yesterday I had another issue, this time by the Casio service center, so I don't trust any of them anymore.

Also the customer is kinda difficult to. Doesn't answer my calls, doesn't bother to call back, I told him to call the service center, or go in in person, didn't do any of these, and after all this is still adamant on pinning the blame on us, the store. And if the blame gets pinned on the company, I can guarantee it management pins the blame on me, which I fucking won't have.

Alright, update: Spoke with an inside man at the service center. He says a dial replacement takes time, since Maserati in Italy won't just send one dial, they'll send a whole bunch of parts when there's enough parts requests. Fine, that's plausible. Some other brands take half to a whole year to send an ordered part over to a service center.

Owner is still being an ass though. Babyboy wants me to hold his hand and wipe his ass while he complains how he can't reach anyone or get shit done it MUH 21ST CENTURY. Maybe put in a genuine effort instead of pestering me, you fucking boomer.
