No i just think most people who are watch snobs look down on gshock. It isnt elegant or sophisticated by any means but my gshock will still work if it gets run over by a car. i cant say the same for any rolex/ap/PP etc.

And just to be clear I am not saying your rolex or ap or PP would ever end up getting run over its just more of a testament to its durability

but you just said you wear one to work because it's likely to get fucked up. so in your own words it's a worthless watch that doesn't matter if it damaged. you just buy a new one.

its not worthless in that regard. its just a tough no bullshit watch.

I often have to log the time for things and digital watches are so much fucking easier to read than analog. only taking a second to read the time versus reading an analog is much more convenient. Plus it is resin so it can be cleaned so much faster and it has been beat to shit so far and has almost no scratches on it

The DW5600 is honestly becoming more of an everyday watch despite me owning a few tool watches.

Thanks for a response.
As for materials so long as the glass is sapphire I'm happy with a stainless steel casing. Has to be leather strap, either hand wound or automatic, colour can be blue, black or white, and as for size im happy with whatever since my Black Bay fits me fine since its quite large but for an aim lets say 40mm.

About buying used or new is a tough one, i was going to go for used but my family who are gifting me the money felt uncomfortable with me spending money for something used, so its preferable for it to be new (they dont understand how well priced some used watches are, unfortunately).

Not that small- Not that significant.

For example, you had a patch size *IRON CROSS* (German) on your bag. Some dumbass saw it and got triggered- that's kinda asking for it. And I know I know I watched girls und panzer also but I swear it's not that deep.

I will put money on it people will not notice it. At least people who don't know watches and basic Italian history won't- stop using that argument for VC, it says a lot more about you than the watch.

In house is not that significant today as many brands retool ETA with gadgets to call them in house for marketing purposes.
There are few really complete in house, you'd have to look at high end or brands like Rolex or Seiko.

For your budget you can look at a Cartier Ronde or Tank Solo XL.
Plus: great brand recognition even from non wis (I think of your proud family members). Great looks and classic for a dress watch.
Cons: some watch snobs look down on the brand because it also sells jewelry and quartz watches. The looks are pretty specific and not everybody dig them

They are marketing theater, nothing more. In 2020, they are moving leather production to India and abandoning the “American manufacturing” taglines. I know this for a fact. Screencap this post.

I disagree on Rolex though. The explorer or milgauss may not look like much in pictures but I started considering them as real options after seeing them irl. The blue dial green glass milgauss is a pretty awesome piece

Same for vintages, I love the small size, 33-35mm and actually much prefer them to current larger designs.

You're treating a watch like a product to tell you the time, like you would treat a Nintendo Switch to play games or a smartphone to do whatever the fuck. Watches aren't like that, if you want to tell the time you can do it better than any watch on your phone at no extra cost. Watches aren't just products you use until a newer better model comes out, at which point you discard the old one.

Think of it more like art, you pay for the craftsmanship, pedigree, etc.

Glad I could be of help.
Now in more general terms I'd like to add that spending 3k on a watch when you are 21 isn't the thing I'd most recommend.
Mainly for two reasons:
1)you probably have little occasion to use such a piece and would be likely to lose it or damage it
2) cost of opportunity; at that age you have plenty of better things to spend that cash on something more useful. You could probably have an awesome trip to Europe or south America for that kind of money. Or just several small holidays with friends during your college years. The Memories and experiences are worth more than owning a watch however nice for these years.
I also believe that it's more satisfactory to buy your first big watches with money you earned yourself and not gifted, but that's me.

All of this is assuming you have a normal financial situation and those things would compete. If you can afford both the watch and the parties/holidays please go for it.

You already own an extremely satisfying piece I believe that hoarding other expensive watches now isn't the best thing you could do. You'll have many years to buy these watches when you are older and have much better income.
I've been there myself many years ago that's why I thought I'd say something

I'd probably flip everything minus the Oris, and the Casio's but it's up to you.
Some people like to consolidate and only have 2-3 expensive watches they wear all the time.
Some have 70 different gshocks in all the colours available.
I'm personally a bit in the middle, with several lower end pieces to have variety and combine with outfits and mood but currently adquiring higher and higher end pieces.
I try to buy better (or at least more expensive) watches but I wouldn't get rid of most of the pieces I have now as they all have history with me or a special quirk that scratches a personal itch

He usually buys junk ten dollar watches and abuses them until they quit and then buys another, so normally I wouldn't think about buying an upscale watch. But some time back he told me about a watch that his father owned and how much it meant when it was passed down to him, and long story short he no longer has his dad's watch anymore.
So I was thinking of getting him something a little upscale as a gift. I'm sort of leaning towards a Hamilton if I can find one at a decent price.

Nothing to my face, but more like gawking and acknowledging I'm wearing a Cartier watch with their friends in a condescending *ugh kinda way lol. Another time a dad was talking about my watch and how I wore it with jeans or some shit to his son and he called me a "dumbass" lol. Son was some jack skellington figured freshman at NYU or parsons wearing Rick dunks with long hair and dad had some CdG meme cons on.
I mean the watch is like $2.5K, sure expensive but not outrageous. I guess the brand image makes people think it's more expensive than it actually is...but I dunno man

I actually had the same issues when I wore my speedmaster.

Probably gonna get worse when I buy a Rolex next :(

Maybe I should get some watch normies won't recognize like a Nomos or Blanc Pain.

A tangente would be nice but i much prefer the lugs on the orion, just a bit more dressy though both are excellent.

I own a small buisness where i provide computer services and education to staff in schools, i live in a small town where most of the main primary schools are run by 50+ year olds who have no clue how to turn on a computer let alone work them, so once i left school i started off volunteering to help but i got some guidence when i was 18 and started providing my services to 5 schools out the gate. Because of my age i was charging pennies compared to more professional services outside of my town and the demand was high. Once id finish training staff on computers i would offer to provide computer solutions and the rest is history. Left me in a pretty good position financially so i bought my dream watch at the time (my BB). Though am thinking of jumping ship and changing my career, demand has went down, i suppose you can only train people for so long.

Ive always loved my BB souly for the reason of it isnt a Rolex, I'm not a fan of flashy brands, i can always appricate fine watch making and their quality, but im not a fan of the sterotypes and things theyre sometimes associated with.

Batteries are changed once every few years so not exactly a big bother so you can get any quartz you like.
An automatic will lose or gain a few seconds a day and end up being rather wrong after a week or so.
Depending on your activity it might not be properly wound when you desk dive.
On overall not really practical compared to electronic watches that can also deliver a whole bunch of other functions at a fraction of the cost (alarms, GPS etc)
