You are supposed to look onions in this kind of office wear fit. You are not in a high position in the company to wear suits yet. I had the same problem, its either prep or smart casual but the thing that will let you make the onions fit stand out is if you dont have a onions personality>>14685409

Do Americans actually do manual labor dressed like this? Here everyone wears poly/cotton work pants and a hi-viz jacket to work.

Just the jacket. those carhartt and dickies jackets are popular because they're durable and they're short so you can move around. the shirt maybe if it had a company logo and was tucked in. only foremen and illegal Mexicans wear jeans to manual labor jobs though. and those boots don't look like steel toe work boots at all. and the beanie you'd take off after working for ten minutes unless you're in extreme weather. so basically yeah this is a s*y goy's interpretation of a working man which is why its cringe af.

My advice is just stop wearing beanies (that goes for anyone, ever) get different frames (bigger ones imo, avoid oval band rectangular, but don't be afraid to embrace the "nerd" aesthetic with bigger frames, you have the face to pull it off) get darker jeans (dark blue or black) or just opt out for chinos, get black boots or if you like that shade then get a different style of boot

>> No.14686451

>>14686443
To add to that, what everyone else said was right, those look nothing like "work" clothes, if you actually do work, as in manual labour, then you need to go in a completely different aesthetic direction

Mhmm I partially agree with you. Depending on the seasonal job though. If you’re doing any sort of ag work or farm hand work jeans are the best and non steel toe boots. But you also sound spiteful and upset. What’s got you shook?

hmmm I didn't realize but I guess the OP did kind of upset me. I guess it irritates me when dudes dress like this since I'm a plumber. my work clothes at the end of the day are filthy to the point where I have to take them off and shower immediately when I get home before I can even sit down or touch anything unless I want everything to get dirty, and then sometimes the shower or the hot water is in use and I have to either stand around or sit outside and wait. so maybe that's why it irritates me when dudes wear that stuff and all i want is to take that shit off and put on something normal ASAP. I also think it makes them look twice as effeminate than if they just wore regular clothes because it's an obvious larp. also plumbing, like a lot of skilled labor, is physically really tough and not everyone is cut out for it so it's kind of lame to me to play dress up without putting the work in or even being capable of it. thank you for helping me unpack that, based psychonalysis poster.

I've known several real blue collar workers who would wear what you have from the neck down. The difference is they wouldn't cuff their jeans, everything would be beat to hell / dirty, and they would have massive calloused claw hands.

not to be an asshole, but people can tell you're an imposter....I like what you're going for, but the beanie, glasses, PLUS the wardrobe are all a bit much...your clothes are all brand new too which makes you seem more like a poser....the easiest fix would be to lose either the beanie, or the glasses.

dress for the job you want, not the job you have...I worked in entry level IT in San Francisco right out of college...everyone seemed to pride themselves in the "we're all laid back" lax dress codes, but I still dressed well (taylored tan dockers, blue button down etc).....and I received a lot of compliments...

Imagine a boss (who doesn't even know the entry level people) has to decide who to fire...on paper he sees the names of two people with equal experience.... 9 times out of 10 if he walked by both, and saw one dude dressed nice, and the other wearing a band shirt, he'd pick the first guy.....you might not like it, but thats the truth.
