Still breaking in. Alden rep says the width stretches a bit and so far I’ve noticed they have been. Definitely a lot less gratuitous than cxl though, so make sure it’s a comfortable fit when you put it on. They’re nearly there, I’m just waiting for that footbed to become a bit more comfortable. they’ve got a real thick sole on them so break in will take a little longer than usual, I’m thinking.

I have similar kind of bending and cracking after 6 months, and my boots have seen like two festivals and pub gigs between all that. That's just how the smooth leather on Docs tends to wear out. AE hasn't been worth it since they were sold a few years ago. You can find countless reviews of people talking about how far they've declined since it happened. I have two pairs of dress shoes that had issues like really sloppy dye jobs, blemishes on the leather, sloppy welt stitching, etc.

Don't really have a space to take pics and don't post here a lot so I'm not the kind to take outfit pics. They are smoother looking on the sides than the suede/roughed leather appearance in the pic, but the toe box still has that look somewhat. They have dark speckling on the sides and some crease on the bottom most hook, both of which I think look good. They could definitely use a clean though. Downside with them is if they scratch it shows much lighter than the finished leather.

Go to the cobbler and have them stitch it to one side. I did it with my Aldens as I had the same problem, now it stays perfectly centered and I don't notice.

My GF digs all my boots, some other gals I've talked to really dig tight and neat combat boots. Nothing flashy, I wear my tall, black Solovairs with white or brown laces and they look enough like normie-Docs to but they do stand out because of their silhouette and stature. ¨

I live in the UK and the winters aren't that harsh so every 3 months i do a re-oil and every few weeks i brush and apply leather protector spray. Then i do a deep clean with saddle soap at the end of each spring when its time to put shoes on like every other pleb.

Stupid question but does the quality of boots seem to lower significantly below 200$? I've been trying to find nice boots irl in my city (Florence) and nothing that looks durable or appealing in design exists below that price range.

Basic anti-grip outsoles, the cobbler just shaved off the cracked outsole and glued/heat-sealed these on. I've had to get them re-glued a few times, but nothing too bad. The sides of the welt have all opened up but I've gotten them glued aswell and they've seem to have held up nicely.

You won't find many boots unless you get them order-made, which will set you back at least 600 Euro.
Other than that, you can find pretty good leather shoes starting from 250 Euro and going up to however much you are willing to spend, and the quality only gets better.
