I genuinely hadn't even noticed the misalignment until taking pictures for this thread just now.

I should add; the lume pip has fallen out and the bracelet lever's pin snapped long ago and is currently being substituted by a random piece of metal held in with JB Weld. Still keeping +/- 5 seconds though.

Is it time to send it in for a service by Hans Wilsdorf himself, or do I lay this one down to rest? It's lived such a hard life.

Unless you are already a good existing customer with a Rolex AD then right now it's basically impossible. You can't even blame Rolex for this. Even up to 18 months ago you could buy steel Rolex's in most stores (with the exception of maybe the Daytona and the 2018 Pepsi GMT). But since then the demand has sky rocketed and Rolex simply can't keep up.

What has made the situation even worse is that some AD's are using back channels to sell any steel sport watches they do get on the grey market for increased profits since Rolex prevents them to sell over MSRP in-store.

So if it goes from +10 to -10 you can leave it in one position one night and the other the second night and just alternate them.

The DA36 on strap seems to go for the same as the 556 on a bracelet. Aftermarket DA36 bracelets seem to be extortionate like $600? Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

But a 556 in bracelet and a nice strap as an option seems to be better value

It's fine.
My one complaint is that the lume is shit.
Damasko is retarded (in more ways then one desu) in that they insist that their dials use C1 luminova because they want that stark whiteness in ordinary light.
It's like they're stuck 20 years ago because they don't seem to have realized that there's a better stark white alternative that's right up there with brightness and longevity of glow.
It suffices, it's just not ideal is all.

It's easy to wear a DA36 and just let it fade away as just part of your wardrobe, like a shirt or whatever - I mean that you'll never be distracted by it unlike say if you were sporting a royal oak or something made of gold or whatever.
It blends into that background as a true tool should.
I don't like sinn. I prefer the inky black dial of the 556 or whatever but damasko has better hardening tech than sinn's dumb coating.
I would worry about servicing/maintenance in the long run as damasko use some proprietary tech in their innovations and, 1 their CS is by all accounts shithouse, and 2 how long are they going to be around?
Are they just one recession away from disappearing?
They're a smaller, independent concern after all and not a puppet brand of some massive conglomerate that would be able to weather a storm or two.
But that's all just long-term speculation.
I've not had to service mine yet.
However, these reservations is what always stays my hand whenever I've become interested in their in-house movement powered Dk's, well, that and the fact that they skimp on the lume even with those models.
It leaves a sour taste in the mouth that they have the gall to sell a $4-5k watch with the very bottom of the barrel dial lume choice.
It's not necessary, I don't live in perpetual darkness after all, but it's annoying.

Note I got it without the bracelet as that wasn't out when I bought the watch.
I've mostly had it on shit like Hirsch Liberties and other flieger style leather straps but have tired of them smelling and dying in the tropical heat where I am currently located.
I use I believe a Hirsch James leather strap that has a rubber or silicon underside with grooves so it doesn't get as warm or sweaty and has lasted much longer than any other leather band I've ever worn in such environmental conditions.
I've considering the bracelet now.

What do you think of the full lume dial models? The lume is still pretty weak from what I’ve heard but the contrast with black hands on white dial should still theoretically be legible in most environments.

I’ll stick with the simple ETA version for the reasons you mentioned - I don’t want to shell out to get their in house stuff serviced if they ever go out of business. Apart from that I guess the crown might be a problem if something goes wrong.

The lume dial would pretty much solve that issue, but I pretty much exclusively buy watches with dark dials (black preferred) with white indices/hands/dial markings.
I have for the past 17yrs or some shit.
There's a reason why that, back in the day, military issued watches going all the way back to ww1 pocketwatches were blackdial/white numerals etc.
It is unbeaten as far as instant visibility is concerned.

My bro in law was buying some rolexes (rolexi?) and though I fucking warned him, he still bought a DJ with the steel dial. I told him about that shit. I warned that dog.
Silver dial + silver hands means you can't see shit in bright sunlight, not at a glance like the black/white offers. Of course now he understands once he actually wore the watch outside the boutique lighting. Moron.

Anyway, though the lume dial would probably solve the lume issue (what lume do they use for them? It looks greener, is it C3? That would be tops), I am more likely to be more frequently checking the time during the day, and hence need instant readability that black/white provides than to care about the lume for night.
It's a trade off I'll accept in this specific instance.

I can't wear watches that don't have a black dial with white.
Every time I've tried I really feel out of sorts.
It has made selecting a dress watch very difficult as most have white or lighter dials, and some of the nicer options that are way up there (calatrava's and saxonias etc.,) the hands and indicies are so polished that they are too mirrored, reflecting black and just getting lost in the dark dial. Instant readability is gone.
And the fact that my one option was very likely just discontinued I'll probably never be able to get a hold of it now.

>Apart from that I guess the crown might be a problem if something goes wrong.
This is my one concern with the basic damasko's, a small one, but it is one nonetheless.

Watchmurdered here.

An old man came in that he found his fathers/grandfathers watches and he wants straps on them. One was a Poljot Strela, the other was a 60's Breitling Navitimer that's worth like 6000 euros on jewbay today.

I was kinda sweating, trying to keep the spaghetti in, but told him that he should think about getting them serviced, and if he doesn't then for the love of god don't keep them running, because wearing them out and bringing them back from that will be a big hassle.

Hey guys, I am trying to narrow down a citizen watch. My only gripe is that the face can look small relative to the size of the watch, sometimes this is because bezels can be a bit thick, sometimes the face is just small relative to the case diameter.

Left to right:

BN0121-00E:
+eco drive
+Titanium case
+case size: 40mm diameter, 11.7mm thickness
+/-moderately thick domed bezel

BJ7111-86L:
+eco drive
+Titanium case
-case size: 43mm diameter, 13.8mm thick
-hour ring + bezel combined too thick, making the face seem too small?

BJ7100-15L:
+eco drive
-Stainless steel
+/-case size: 42mm diameter, 13.3mm thick
+/-hour ring and bezel thickness seem more balanced?

BJ7100-82E
+eco drive
-Stainless steel
+/-case size: 42mm diameter, 13.3mm thick
+/-hour ring and bezel thickness seem more balanced?

NY0098-84E
-automatic
-stainless steel
+/-case size: 42mm diameter, 12.6mm thick
+/-cushion case is still large but small bezel makes it look smaller

I do sometimes, but this thing is close to 50 years old so I try not to overdo it. It's not very useful in the age of smart phones, but has come in handy a few times. Plus it's just fun to use - you get 10 seconds of what sounds like a bee trapped inside the case.

>How imprecise is the alarm anyway?
Pretty imprecise, within a few minutes but I haven't measured it accurately. Maybe with a good service it's possible to tune it finer.

Fellas, help me out. Im on a quest for the most comfortable watch strap, so that I can wear a watch more often. Ive had previously great success with a titanium (case and bracelet, quartz) watch of mine, and then a (quartz) diver on a rubber strap. Both were perfectly adjusted and they never felt unconfortable, even when sweaty/wet. Now I got into automatics and I cannot find a strap that would fit worth a damn. Metal bracelets look great, but arent comfy at all, leather takes ages to soften up and gets hard if you dont wear it, also pre-made holes are ass. Ive got me an elastic one and it fits quite well, however again, after a longer wear I can see marks on my wrist and an uncomfortable feel on the inside of the wrist where the vein goes. Titanium bracelets are ridiculously overpriced, and rubber woudnt fit the style of the watch. Is it all because of the weight of the automatic watches compared to what I was used to? I dont want to feel like Im wearing a watch, just know that it is there, like say, sunglasses.

tl;dr recommend a watch strap that eliminates "wrist presence" and is comfy for all-day wear

Got the black a couple of months ago (pic is not mine) and can't believe how happy I am with it despite paying close to $200 for a quartz shitter. The size is just right and I love how legible the dial is. But the second hand doesn't align properly with the dial which is very typical of seiko.

From a guy that owns and owned a lot of lower priced divers it's alright. Only things that i find off to me is that the crown could be better, like the knurled crown that started on the LE Fugo models and newer Citizens >>14645331 (rightmost) and the crystal having and tendency to haze quite rapidly after a few years (I had an older NY0040 that i sold, crystal was starting to to haze)

I still have an empty space in the box for larger watches, but i'm considering getting something else.

You're saying that to justify the "need" to spent fat stacks on wrist jewelry. Sensible rich people spend money intelligently, and on things they value. A super-rich guy who's not really into watches is going to buy an economical watch and spend his money on what he really enjoys, like Bill Gates and his cars. He's not gonna go out and buy a $200K RM just because rich people need expensive stuff. Warren Buffett lives in a cheap house and drives cheap cars. But he likes watches and tried to buy Rolex (the whole company) once. He wears an 18K Day Date. That's like a $25K watch so it's expensive enough to be douchey to poorfags, but it's still not some billionaire-tier flagship flex piece.

I'm not a richfag, but I wear a $250 watch despite having $10K in guns. Could easily be rolling a Speedmaster or whatever but I just don't value watches that much.
