How is sizing on Alden boots? Specifically the truebalance and barrie lasts? Is it half size down or tts or what?

Half size down on both is what most say. I went a full size down on trubalance and had to stretch my boots out a bit. just got a pair of shoes in Barrie and only went down a half, and they fit perfectly.

anyone have any experience with shell boots? do they like them/hate them more than cowhide/calf leather?

I've got a size 9.5d in trubalance and 10d in Barrie. if my trubalance boots weren't cxl I think I would have had a tougher time stretching them. they fit perfectly now though.

One of my professors was telling us his first job as an assistant professor made 48k a year. Full professors make 60k if they're lucky unless they teach at an Ivy of a big name school.
It's just not worth it to me to sacrifice earnings for 8-12 years for bachelors, masters and PhD, bring a poor research assistant or TA, taking out student loans and writing a dissertation all for a job after teaching zoomers who don't care and spending my weekends grading papers all for 60k a year. I haven't tried it yet but my suspicion is that leather soles + sole protector will be better for the boot long term, as preserving the leather sole will mean less complete resoles and a longer lifespan of the boot. I was disappointed Red Wings moved away from a flat sole for this reason. Would you guys say this is correct?

I'm 6'3", boots add almost an inch of height as well. It's awesome towering over people and having people look up at me.
Manlets will never know this feel and no matter what they do they will never be able to. They will always be insecure about it and try and cope by dressing in certain ways.
