I already have two, I bought them broken like 6 or 7 years ago and only ever bothered to get bands for after I found them in the basement several months ago.
I was interested in the Amphibas due to historical/design appreciation, water resistance and the general looks of it.
Swimming with it? Probably not, I could use quartz casios I have, but frankly since I got out of school, I nearly never wore watches anymore because they aren't particularly interesting or special. Since I found the vostoks I had again, I actually wear them relatively frequently because
I am forced to wind both daily, so I have them out close by, and they are very interesting (in comparison to anything you'd be able to buy at a comparable price, if I bought them new). I don't like not having the option for use near water though.

Ding ding ding

>but then I won't get any respect from anyone so I might as well not wear a watch at all
Watches don't get you respect. A loser with a Tissot is just a loser who spent too much money on a watch.

Been wearing this thing every day for the past year and a half. Travelled to the other side of the planet with it, swam in the ocean, went scuba diving, strapped it to my motorcycle when the clock stopped working on it and left it on there for weeks in the heat and rain, dropped it loads of times, showered with it, etc. Still trucking.
One time when swimming in the ocean with it I noticed afterwards that the crown was unscrewed. Shook it until sand stopped coming out of it and screwed it back down, still keeps good time.

I wear this every day to my fancy financial firm job and watch mog everyone in the building. Most people wear the most disgusting smartwatches imaginable, and other young dudes who have enough of a soul to not wear a smartwatch wear 45mm hunks of plastic shit.
Women wear whatever sort of fashion watches from fossil or kohls, but I guess women get a pass.
The nicest stuff is the occasional Ecodrive on some boomer who got it from Ross in a mall, because it's always the absolute worst ecodrive imaginable. Any men with watches that have bracelets are guaranteed to be too smallbrained to size the microadjustment properly so they don't fit quite right.
It's a hellish, yet somehow satisfying experience. 7/10

However, by all accounts he is a major, major cunt and if shit goes wrong you're more often than not SOL as he doesn't like to admit fault.
He owns his own forum which he uses to surpress word on shitty qc and other shenanigans. (banning and bawleting any dissent or proof of his own wrongdoing etc., attempting to blackmail or threaten to dox customers that found fault with his products - nasty shit)
After having read of enough incidents concerning this one man show, in decided to avoid. CS is vitally important imo, and I've bought enough shit that later on I was glad was well supported.
A large, faceless company might be just that, but they have dedicated CS depts to address your concerns and you won't find yourself fucked because the CEO/board chairman himself had a bad day and decided to give you a hard time. That's the problem with a one man show. There's plenty of other watches that resemble the UK issued mil watch that that modern Smiths I was looking is based on for me to have to bother.
I only posted the caveat as I only just stumbled into a watch thread after a long time. The concave bits on the side of the lugs are nice. I already have an imperial though so not particularly tempted.
Doesn't help that it took them over 3 years of excuses to send over a blue strap (which is what I originally ordered) for my imperial. Somewhere along the line one of the excuses became that it wouldn't be an alligator strap but a water resistant leather over rubber strap (the yue fei strap). So fuck it, I just ordered a custom alligator strap from a local shop instead.
