I bought a travel sized sample of By The Fireplace out of curiosity. Its very sweet and smells like how a ginger bread house looks. I really like it, I might buy some more for fall. It smells best muffled under clothing. If you have a spray on your neck, its quite overwhelming, but a whiff every now and then is exciting.

>Another reviewed trenchantly described the scent as something to the effect of "old man at church." This is fairly accurate. It smells like Brut or the original Old Spice if someone were to pour patchouli and toss in some dead leaves into the formula. If you're under 55, this scent is not for you. Honestly, the bottle is cool/well designed (small square with the faux-wood top), and it's not horrendous (hence the two-stars), but it's cheap, short-lasting and not particularly enticing either.

I had never smelled Sauvage until last week, smelled the opening in store and wasn't into it although I didn't give it much thought

Said fuck it and went and bought a bottle of edp the other day, wore it today and still can't decide if I like it or not. I've decided that I hate the opening and I think it smells loud and harsh for about an hour anad a half, then it settles sort of nicely, then just turns into shower gel like everyone says it does. I don't get the pepper note that people say is there and don't think there's anything remotely masculine about it, IMO it might suit a woman better. Smelling it in the bottle I can't get my head around it, it smells quite jarring, like for the first half-second of smelling it I feel like I can analyse the scent but then it quickly freezes my brain. It's like trying to read something in a dream - you see letters on the page and know you should understand them but you can't no matter how hard you try. I think it could have been a good masculine fresh citrusy fragrance but there's something else that gets in the way of that and it might be the shower gel note. Undecided and leaning towards dislike but fuck it I'll keep using it for now. Hope you enjoyed my detailed analysis of possibly the most basic bitch mens frag ever

Thoughts on this??? I had a bottle and quite liked it and have now found it online breddy cheap. Although I don't remember ever having anybody comment on it when I wore it. >a south American guy speaking Spanish

Dunno where the hell else to tell this story, but since its sorta perfume related i guess it goes here.

Be in the mall with gf trying out different perfumes. Shes moody as hell and dont really wanna be there and just walk around while smell different perfumes. I did a spray of Ombre Leather and Eros on each wrist, and asked her if she liked one more than the other. She then says they both suck but really hates Ombre Leather. Shes killing the mood and i decide that we should get out of the mall. We walk for about 10 mins before i confront her on her mood and tell her to fuck off and go home... Went back and bought 100ml of Ombre leather...

They're extremely long lasting and well projecting on me. Which is not the case with most of the fragrances. I don't know if these are EdP or extraits but concentration of in some of them is so high that spraying them on my hand makes me sneeze.
>Dulcis in Fundo
>Acqua e Zucchero
Both are lovely smooth vanillas. The former has nice citrusy quality to it that after 2/3h more or less vanishes and transforms the scent to a pleasant (albeit a bit feminine) creamy, almost edible vanilla. Acqua e Zucchero is similar but replace citruses with berries and let them last throughout all stages till the drydown.
>Acqua di Sale
This is probably the best aquatic I've ever tried. Imagine a walk on the seaside in November. You can get a watery salty notes broken by seaweed giving it an almost camphor-like smell. It borderlne reminds me of Vicks thanks to it, but done in a pleasant way.
>Arso
Very dark resiny and smoky scent with tons of character. Would be a good match for this ongoing Dark Academia meme imo.
>Audace
Snice vetiver with smooth corners that many vetiver-dominated fragrances are missing. Not particularly bold for what this brand can get you used to.
>Antico Caruso
Very Guerlainish thanks to citrus-vanilla-almond accord. Quite quiet for the brand - projects maybe for a feet but stays easily 8h on skin. Pleasant but not particularly remarkable.
>Sorriso
Hands down the best gourmand I've tried. Strong dark chocolate note supported by bourbon vanilla and oragnes. Lovely stuff but not sure if I could pull it off.

So, still nothing from Alex, so I guess that’s not happening. But...

I went to a frag event at a local niche frag shop last week. They were showcasing Xerjoff, had some guy there from the company. Wasn’t anyone important, I don’t think, never heard of him before, but it was interesting hearing him talk about the brand. Wound up meeting a girl there, we’ve pretty much spent the entire week together now. She’s also ok with me seeing escorts, in fact, we shared a lady on Friday, so I guess I’m still hookerfag. Life’s pretty good right now. She’s a tall blonde qt, and she sucks dick like it was the antidote. I think I’m in love, brehs...

>> No.14640639

>>14640624
Summing up, for some reason I can't not make a parallel between Profumum Roma and Xerjoff. Both are examples of great Italian niche perfumery on the pricey side of things (Profumum Roma is more consistent with their pricing though, oscillating around $250 per bottle). However, PR is way more bolder than Xerjoff and in he result of that way more interesting. After I've tested probably like 20 different Xerjoffs I always ran at the same problem - scents were nice, ingredients clearly of great quality and their perfumes performed well but at the end of the day I never really felt like pulling a trigger on any as their compositions were always too conservative and aiming at being crowdpleasers. PR is quite opposite, almost every of their scents is unique and worth being a signature scent that will make you recognizable from the crowd even if some people will hate them.

Good for you mate. It's a bummer with Alex though. I had to go to Warsaw for a gala last night and was wearing Xerjoff's Amber Star. A good choice for a black tie event but not gonna cop a bottle as it's not £560-worth-good imo. There was a gorgeous blonde in a Valentino red dress there that I really wanted to meet but I had to talk stuff to some (mostly boring) people for the whole night and when they were gone she already went home. So after the event I called this girl that I've been in touch for 2 years but we've never really seen each other since I pulled her off tinder to go to hers. She dressed up for me and was doing very good job with flirting and everything but I just didn't feel like cheating this time. It was pretty funny to be in uninterested girl's shoes for once when she tries hard to go sexual with vibe and everything and you're just killing it thinking of escaping the place. Maybe she wasn't really hot enough to make it work for me or maybe I still got some conscience. Idk if I should feel good or bad about it.

Well, it’s all right. I mean, banging Alex would be pretty cool, but I’ve got 3 girls booked for Amsterdam already who are all at least as hot as Alex, plus my regular ladies in the windows, so it’s all good. A little bummed that I met this girl too close to my trip to be able to bring her with me. That’d be a lot of fun. She loves women too. Ah well, maybe next time.

Too bad about the girl in the red dress. You always wonder about the ones that get away, don’t you? That’s the great thing about life, though. There’s always a next woman.

In fragrances, amber is usually combo of benzoin and vanilla, sometimes labdanum. Depending on the blend, the vanilla might be stronger or weaker or emerge at different points. The vibe is a little more balsamic in Kilian's Ambre Oud, thanks to the cedar note.

Amber tends to be used in warm, creamy fragrances and the note itself comes off as a little powdery. Musc Ravageur isn't marketed as an amber frag but it's kind of amber oriental.

So it’s a smell actually. Long time ago when perfumery was only accessible to the rich top stratum of hierarchical societies they used to crush actual Amber that jewellers use into dust and then heat it. In this way adding some other ingredients they were getting an amber smell that presumably was resinobenzinovanilla-like. The todays amber is an impression on that smell. I reckon these rules were made to don’t let people come with 12 sprays of Sauvage to a confined space. You can’t really tell people to ‘spray moderately’ and dive into explanation of what moderately is but either don’t tell anything or categorically rule out all of fragrances. That being said, I personally wear 3 sprays of the original YSL L’Homme to all important meetings where I’m of clearly lower status and no one ever made a compliant.

Something light and inoffensive won’t hurt at all. Something soapy like ADP Colonia (Essenza), Dior Eau Sauvage, maybe something like Versace Pour Homme if sprayed lightly could work. I don’t often agree with that, but for an interview if you go in and choke everycunt you’ve gone too far.
