Are desert boots still in style? Should I buy? If not, what is today's equivalent.

If you wear them without putting a lot of emphasis on them (like rolling up your pants to show them off) they're still a nice shoe that work very well with certain fits.

they're never not in style, that's why they're a classic look

buy clarks, mine have been bulletproof. they run large, so get half a size smaller.

This. It's my go to shoe in simple smart fits for dates, casual functions, etc.

I actually like the black suede on models.

Too bulky for my tastes but you can get these for around $50 and their (better) boot is the Mali which is more expensive.

bushacre 2 is superior imo

Fuck these shoes. They always look like someone wearing a cross between a moccasin and a wooden clog. They make me irrationally angry.

honestly, i wear them almost every day all four seasons. too comfy not to.

they're comfy with a nice blend of casual and dress: light enough to be comfortable to wear to work in the summer, heavy enough to be comfortable in the winter.

they're a little beat up now though, so i can't wear them as often as i'd like.

i mainline two shoes: my clarks dbs and my sperrys

DBs have crepe soles, Bushacre 2s have rubber.

Bushacres are just DBs but with a vulcanized sole instead. The only benefit is that you won't slip on wet tile.
Crepe soles are infinitely more comfortable.

Been wearing these for years because I work low class desk jobs doing sales and shit. They are smooth as. Great low end work shoes. A little "dressed up" vibe paired with a little stoner wanker vibe, you cant go wrong, really. Same goes for Desert Boots, except Wallies are way more comfy.

Also you can find them on eBay new all the time for $50-$80 so they cost about as much as a regular pair of beaters anyway.

Did they ever go out of style? I think of them like a zippo lighter, function over form. As boots go I'd say Doc Marten, a generic suede desert boot and a pair of Converse will be good for most occasions/uses.

I'm from /p/ though and I'm old. I buy new footwear when my feet start getting wet in the rain.
