Do you have any good dufflecoat inspo?

Slacks recommendations? Reasonable price preferred

Also I browse sneaker general since u like to wear fire kicks when I'm not larping as prep. (Which I mostly do for work)
Now for my question. Is it a good idea to buy a cheap Uniqlo blazer to see if I like the style? I don't want to commit to a 2 or 300 dollar blazer just yet. Pic related. My only worry is that it will be too slim fit because I'm a big boi. 40 inch chest and 31 inch waist

Check the seller's rating, reviews, how many things they've sold before especially. Some guy who has sold 300 items isn't going to turn around and throw that reputation away and scam you over a $30 shirt. That reputation is more valuable than most small-time scams.

Used clothes on ebay can be really cheap, especially when you get away from jackets/suits/etc (which are already quite cheap) so I wouldn't necessarily discount it. I buy clothes on eBay all the time and have never been scammed. Jackets, blazers, still-unfinished suits, ties with the tags still on them - probably 1/2 of my tailored wardrobe came from ebay alone. I bought an unworn, unfinished 3/2 tweed BB 1818 sack suit for $99 once.

Posted this in the /comfy/ thread, and it probably fits better there, but there is a bit of crossover.

I'm continuing to build my wardrobe around what I call "fieldcore". Basically I work as a natural history tour guide and I figure that's all the license I need to LARP as a palaeontologist. Lot of khaki workwear, greens and browns, comfy knits, bit of tweed here and there. Safari/Bruce/Ray Mears LARP. Nothing absurdly costumy, I've thrown a wide net.

I need some wet weather gear and I was thinking maybe milsurp waterproofs or some sort of fisherman's looking or bright raincoat, any suggestions?

I can bash together a grid, but it's nothing too special, just the optimal version of the "team kit" or the unofficial uniform for archaeo and palaeo digs, when you're in areas where you don't necessarily have health and safety breathing down your neck and so are forced to wear hi-vis. Certain things people do look great, others not so much, but this picture inspired me, understated, practical, pretty good looking for the style.

Polo Ralph Lauren, they have 100% cotton chinos in regular and slim fits with a decent range of colours

>> No.14608649

I'm about to go out, so the grid might wait a bit, but here's what I've written:

>Headwear:
-Fur felt or straw hat, fine straw looks better and raffia looks like festival throwaway rubbish but raffia is more durable.
A lot go for leather because they are cheap and crushable, but they don't look great. and there are crushable broad brimmed fur felt hats, like Akubra's Avalon.
>Neck:
-Scarf or neckerchief for sun, sweat, dust.
One option is painters' cloth sewn into a tube scarf, stretchy, good for holding water and a good face mask to keep out dust, not 100% the best looking option but very practical, and can be dyed.
>Body base/middle layers:
-chambray
-summerweight cotton work shirts in tan, khaki, greens
cotton drill as above, obviously both contrasted with the trousers.
I've found oversize cotton drill work shirts look pretty good as an outer layer, bit like a safari or field jacket in appearance but not as affected
not 100% sure of the correct terminology of the fabric type but flannel checked shirts in natural colours
>heavier layers:
-the "wooly pully"
-heavier wool field shirts like Mears is wearing above
-I mostly have a heap of natural coloured knits though
-safari/photographers' field vest fits in here, but this is where tweed gilets also look good

>Legwear
-I love khaki cotton drill. Trousers, shorts.
Pretty trad workwear where I am. Depending on where you are this is where I'd really start to sacrifice looks for comfort if need be with some technical fabric trousers.

>Footwear
-trad workboots, either from your region or elsewhere
As per above, this would be the first thing to go if I was working somewhere wet. But in most circumstances I have worked in, I dress for looks then swap out for rubber boots as needed.

I haven't done a dig where the weather is really inclement for a few years, don't really have much that fits in that's waterproof as per my question. Thinking about some fisherman's overalls though before the next one at my first dig site.

I'm afraid the middle ground has been hollowed out. The past few decades of popular fashion have really seen a rapid rapid race to the bottom. That affordable landsend button down that your dad would buy? It no longer exists. Nearly all brands are lowering the quality of their product to cut costs. Custom is honestly the best option for me. If you're happier with something lower quality, GAP, Abercrombie, Landsend, Charles Twyritt or TM Lewin will all do. However, they aren't in that price range (considerably cheaper) as that price range barely exists anymore. Oh and I don't think they have a good collar roll.

Absolutely embarrassing babby's first shitposting.
Only thing I messed up in that post was forgetting the meme arrow for your affected nonsense I quoted. Other than that, the post was as coherent as the rest of them.

I'm obviously not pretending to be a palaeontologist, just like I'm not pretending to be on safari, a guy called Bruce, or Ray Mears who I also said I was LARPing as. I'm just playing dress ups. You know this, you are just pretending to be clueless about lingo and context so you have something to reeeeee about. Hell, if I had enough knowledge to be able to fool palaeontologists out in the field like you are pretending to think I try and do, I'd be able to sidestep a palaeo master's and just start writing papers anyway.

>This is Ivy Trad Prep, not your "comfy core" thread pretend bullshit.

The construction of my pair are solid but I would never pay retail price for them. At the price point of many luxury brands it'd make sense to just go bespoke, especially for something like shoes. I mean, this style, at least prep and ivy, screams "rich". I understand you don't need to be rich to afford dressing like this, but to me the style is for rich people. Maybe that is just the stereotype talking, but I don't think I'm alone out there among normies in having that impression.

And when I see some of you posting pics of yourselves, I can't stop myself from thinking it looks odd because it's clear that you're poor but you dress like that anyway.

The problem is that they're spending as little as possible on a style that's all about the details. Details that require a little bit more outlay. A little collar with no roll, standard slimfit, lightweight trousers, cheap shoes, these are all signs that they aren't spending enough on quality, prep approved brands. Actual nice clothes don't cost THAT much more than the j.crew/lands end/gap that most of these posters are wearing. The question is more of good taste rather than abject poverty imo.

For good shirts you should be spending 100$ Good shoes cost AT LEAST 300$ (good year welted from a reputable brand) A good blazer that hasn't been thrifted should be 600-1000$. Nice trousers will always cost at least 150$

Now while these prices might seem excessive to your average university student 4channer, once you have at least an alright job, they're not. Your average Joe would spend a lot more money 100 years ago on a few items of quality clothing (and like 40% of their salary on food alone lol) that would last then a long time. It's still possible to do that. Stop buying so much thin, lightweight, poorly constructed disposable junk and have a small wardrobe with a few quality pieces and you will be much happier.

Disclaimer, if you are really poor and or a student, don't follow this advice. When you're young you should be experimenting and developing your style. You don't want to spend the tiny amounts of money you have on what could be a costly sartorial mistake.

Your torso doesn't suit low rise pants. See if you can find something with a medium rise of 12 inches. Also, get them cuffed. White is a fine idea but I think your shirt's shoulders are too wide. They're drooping on the sides. Finally, your shirt has a little baby collar which isn't /tip/. Good effort though and I like your shoes and belt.
