what boots are those in that picture?

ive been looking for something to replace my iron rangers. bought them off an old co-worker who barely wore them. they were nice at first but over time i just started to dislike the color of it.and also its a tad bit too big. i feel like theres a little too much toe space. maybe im just not wearing the right kind of socks or something though.

also, i feel like a darker brown colored boot suits me better. someone told me i can darken it to something around that color by using specific oils on it.
im new to all of this, as you can tell.

ah, yes. good question. im an expert at this. I'm 'that guy" who fake distresses his boots because hes too much of a pussy to actually abuse them for real. In terms of breaking them in, I dont think rubbing alcohol will do much. it does strip away some of the shine though. if you want to take it next level even, use nail polish remover. use lightly though because it can damage the leather.

in terms of easing in the break in process, whats worked best for me is putting on my thickest pair of socks, getting them soaking wet in hot water, and then putting my boots on for a few hours and walking around in them. yes it will be uncomfortable, but it will help the leather conform to your foot much faster.

I bought a pair of these because I have wide feet and it was cheap enough that I don't care if they fall apart in a year or two.

If you want an honest opinion on the quality, they're pretty garbage. I've worn mine for about a month now and there's a weird bump in the sole in the front of the right boot that hurts if I wear the boots too long. The stitching is very hit or miss and I can easily see the stitches fraying. The quality of leather is very poor, lot of loose grain on my pair. The outsole feels clunky and like it could pop off at any moment.

Just do yourself the favor, save up an extra chunk of change, and at the very least get Iron Rangers or something. Red Wing is probably the most durable boot you are going to find in the $300 price range and their leathers are gorgeous.

Thursday is a shit brand marketed towards people who wouldn't know any better.
Boot enthusiasts know they're shit and don't buy them. People who just want boots to try and look cool and just get what's cheapest get Thursdays. These people don't know about leather quality, soles wearing out, what a Goodyear welt is or that it can be resoled. All they care about is cheap boots that they can match with whatever is in trend at the moment.
Thursdays are boots for non-bootfags

that sort of boot still applies, it's just that most wokstar-core asians don't really wear them because they're not as ubiquitous as wyatts. I think they're easier to wear without being a meme (I say this as someone with SeF harness wyatt knockoffs lol), but it's still possible. That being said, I (think I) was mostly trying to answer "can I wear these without going full yeehaw/SLP mode", which I'm unsure of since I haven't really seen them without yeehaw except for one guy who has an extremely specific style and doesn't usually wear boots with that much of a cuban heel.

2 questions
1. Is Clarks worth it? (i tend to have a problem finding sneakers due to them being too narrow from the middle or from the ankle, and i've never shopped clarks)

2. Would i be a total clown if i were to buy Chelseas like this from H&M? (I'm not a boot enthusiast so my only interest is to pair the boots with an outfit, plus H&M probably is the cheapest option which is a plus for me)

You'd be right if we were talking about, I don't know, buying H&M jeans vs. autistic $300 Japanese raw denim muh fadez jeans. But here you're dead wrong.

Buying footwear from H&M is a good idea in only one circumstance: if you want to try out a new style for a season and you're not sure how much you'll like it yet. In that case, the cheap construction isn't a bug, it's a feature. It makes sense not to spend several hundred dollars on something that will last when you might not like it.

In literally all other circumstances, you should buy actual fucking boots. They will look better. They will be more comfortable. They will last longer by orders of magnitude. Purchasing cheap leather footwear from a fast fashion company is just wasting money.

Construction is just different. They're handwelted instead of Goodyear welted. GYWing uses a machine stitched to a glued on rib. Handwelting handsews into a carved out holdfast. It allows for a very comfy fit as a result. Also, White's does a rolled welt, almost like a Norwegian welt vs Red Wing's standard GYW. Whites also uses midsoles for added comfort. Red Wing sews the welt directly to the sole.
White's feels so much more custom and handmade versus Red Wing being and feeling mass-produced.

I own those exact boots. I love how they look (it's been about a year and they're just the right amount of scuffed) but don't love how they feel. Unfortunately they've gotten less comfortable with time, not more; they've collapsed a little bit near the toe which makes them chafe against the top of my foot when I walk. (Yeah, they're the right size.)

I don't regret getting them, and they're fine for days when I'm not really doing a lot of walking, but I'd say be gentler with them than you might expect, because they don't age as gracefully as other Red Wings.

How did I do? Took the plunge and got my first 2 proper pairs of boots, Bexley Keystone Country Patina Chestnut and the Meermin Chestnut Country Calf.

Very happy with both
The Meermins are the better shoe by all accounts but the Bexleys aren't bad either (even if they aren't GYW, they're Blake Welted). I got 2 pairs because I wanted to be able to rotate and give the Meermins rest so they don't get run into the ground altogether.

It's the fact that they lie about not cutting corners and market themselves as a high quality boot despite using synthetic insoles, a rip-off copy of Horween CXL and rip-off Dainite copies that are a softer material that wears faster. They proudly claim to be an American boot company but make their boots in Mexico because of the cheap labor. Thursday loves to say they're a bargain for their price and that boots that good cost much more, but honestly, they're not.
Thursdays are $100 boots being sold for $200+ that advertise themselves as $400 boots. Fuck them, fuck their products, fuck their owners and fuck every single YouTube shill that got paid to say they were the best boots on earth and the best they've ever worn and on par with $700 boots and all the other lies Thursday paid them to say.
