There's been issues with them (especially ones using Seagull movements) where basically they buy the movements in bulk unlubed (as it's cheaper) and just install them into their cases. It shouldn't cost too much, and it will mean your watch will work for longer than 5 months.

If you want a steel chrono on a bracelet you’re stuck with a Speedy or a Grand Seiko (but their chrono designs are hideous IMO). A Speedmaster is not a good “single watch” either. Hesalite gets scratched if you look at it wrong, virtually no water resistance, and it’s manual wind. Why not look at a nice Rolex Explorer I or Explorer II? The Explorer I is the perfect single watch IMO. Good size, can be dressed up or down, timeless simple design and rugged as hell. Explorer II is much more sporty but you’ll get a nice GMT complication and a cool look if you go for the white dial.
