Just picked this up, mostly for the mechanical novelty.

It's a ~1965 Poljot "Signal", a soviet semi-knockoff of the Vulcain Cricket i.e. a Mechanical watch with an alarm feature, done by setting the alarm hand with the 2nd crown and then winding the alarm, which when the hour hand reaches the alarm hand, causes the watch to vibrate on your wrist.

It's in kind of rough shape, but I got it for a song, and it's definitely not a re-dial or re-case as a lot of these are. Fun little addition to the soviet part of the collection.

The 6R15 movement is infamously unreliable in that they vary from watch to watch. This isn't some hidden fact, a google search will show you a bunch of resources and anecdotal evidence about it.

One of my Cosmotrons ran out of juice two days ago so I put in a new battery. On one hand this baby chugged along flawlessly for about a year every day at 36000bph.

On the other hand it sucked dry an entire SR44 battery in a year, which is scary by today's standards.

First time posting here.
I just have a question.
Friend of mine bought a Rolex Submariner like a week ago. A fake one, he knew that it was fake he payed 350 something euros for it. Now it's not that bad but if you compare it to a real one you see some diffrences.I also know that there are fake Rolex or Omegas that go for like 600-1000 € that are almost perfectly identical to the real thing. Now my question would be what do you guys think about buying fake luxury watches and do you know any wbsites where one can buy such a more expensive fake and or did you buy a fake one for yourself or someone else already?

Why buy a "good" fake? If you're just looking to impress people, the average joe won't know a real Rolex from a Fake even with a loupe. If you just want to rock a fake Rolex to, I don't know, impress people, just buy the cheapest one that doesn't look totally shitty.

That said, if you're ever with someone who knows watches, they're going to spot it a mile away and that's not going to be a good look. There are plenty of great respectable watches for 350-1000 Euros, why not buy one of them?

Stowa offer Schätzle dials (Nomos), swiss made Universo hands, Fricker cases and ETA movements, designed and supervised by master watchmaker Jörg Schauer, for around that price point. Sturdy and well-built as all german brands, but without sacrificing elegance on the altar of god TOOL, and without that extra one thousand for their in-house hardened steel (Sinn, Damasko).

Seiko offers corresponding value at all price points, but it'll never feel quite as personal as a Stowa. Also their quality control is nowhere near.

Lower end swiss don't really do much for me personally, the designs seem cheap on purpose. (To build that Swatch Group internal hierarchy, guiding you gradually towards that Master Co-Axial.) Except maybe Eterna, which also has more watchmaking cred than the rest of the swiss at that price.

Anon, oh anon. Where to begin. The most important thing about a Nomos watch is that you're never really buying it. It doesn't belong to you or anything like that. You're spending money in order to spend time with something as exquisite and extraordinary as a meticulously crafted time-art-piece. It makes every single day of yours like a gala dinner at the museum. Just not quite so boring.

That used to be the case. When Rolex was a fresh brand from a visionary enterpreneur with the spirit of a new age. A spirit that has turned into the ghosts of the past, haunting us. Nomos is not a brand with great heritage. It's better: it's a brand with an even brighter future. Your future. My future. It's time to work on our own legacy instead of buying into the stories of old. Don't you think?

The first time you wear a piece of truly authentic and perfected watchmaking, it's like looking behind the curtain. What is behind the curtain, you ask? A mirror. All the time, this was your life told by other people: your parents, your friends, television, the internet, music stars. With a Nomos on the wrist, you have it in your hand - the time of your life begins with you.

Picked up an Orient Sun and Moon V3 from Amazon's warehouse deals section for a steal. Was wondering your guys opinions on wut strap is gud, trying to make it a touch more casual without ruining the look of the watch as I can't afford the cash on another watch currently to better suit the casual role on its own.
