Indys aren't moc toe. They're faux moc just for decoration. It's their signature detail.

12E UK sizing. I could possibly have sized down a half size for these, but I need the width and length. The confusing thing is how much space you have above your foot, but I presume it's to make room for thicker socks. I wear orthotic inserts in my IRs so I could prob get away with a half size smaller in those too. I've made many errors purchasing footwear online over the years so I understand your position. Not sure if you're pretending to be retarded or not.
On actual moc toes, the moc toe is integral to its structure. They are typically meant for actual work as the crepe sole is comfortable enough for lineman and warehouse workers, etc. It's ironic since basedboys who have never worked a day outside in their lives seem to love them.
The Indy boots have that double row of stitching just for decoration, that's all. It's their signature detail and something immediately recognizable. It serves no purpose, it's all aesthetics. If you don't like it, don't wear it.

Depends on the color and material. Black jeans look best closer to form fitting as do chinos, however grey or olive look better with room in the thigh with a taper. In my opinion blue jeans also look better in that fit but its also my opinion that a more casual or cap toed boot should never be covered by pant legs, instead pinrolled to exacerbate a casual look. If you're tucking a button up into black jeans or slacks I would suggest leaving them unrolled however, you're leaning more toward a formal look while still having casual elements. I love rolled clothing, whether its sleeves or pant legs. It shows that you're not taking yourself too seriously nor are you attending a job interview.

It would only look good with a medium to light blue jean and perhaps a black jean but beige would be better with the latter. These would not work with khaki in my opinion. I'd suggest a brown boot to start out. Some dont appreciate the color but it has more of a generalist approach that a black boot lacks. From brown you're free to switch it up with black or the boots in question however you're recycling your options with less variety than you had. To me personally chelsea and jodphur in suede is an accoutrement to a select few outfits in a wardrobe.

If you're that interested in the look of a chelsea boot and aren't a fan of something more simple I'd suggest a leather chelsea although they're far more common in black.

>> No.14518330

>>14518315
I see. I appreciate the advice, but something about this particular color and boot draws me in, whereas a leather or black chelsea does not. I like how the suede catches the eye. Have you even looked at their incredibly thorough and detailed Last sizing system? No one who actually takes boots seriously would ever shit on a company like Solovair. you just are either a contrarian or heavily autistic and ignorant.

>> No.14518468

>>14518366
Goodyear welting means glueing a strip on canvas or whatever to the insole and stitching the welt to the strip through the upper and insole. They use a machine to do this. The glue can come apart or the strip fails and that's the biggest downside to GYWing.
Handwelting is very similar only instead of the canvas or whatever strip, they use extra thick insoles and literally carve away to make a holdfast through which they hand sew the welt through the upper and insole. This is all done by hand and because they carve out the holdfast there's no chance of it failing. It also allows for more resoles.
For White's, yes they handwelt their boots but it's not that simple. They do a rolled welt, similar to a Norwegian welt and I'm honestly not completely positive what it is. Looks like a mix of stitchdown and a welt.
But as to which is better, probably handwelting as there's no chance of the inner strip coming apart or the glue failing as they literally carve out the holdfast and it's part of the actual insole

>> No.14518474

You can say all you want about Docs or Solovair and nothing will change the fact that they make ugly boots marketed towards teenagers, lesbians and neo-nazis. They could be handmade by the finest artisans on the planet of the highest quality materials and that won't change the fact that they're simply ugly, childish looking boots that people won't take you seriously wearing.

After the discussion of loose grain and it prevalence with CXL leather, I found this video of a pair of White's MPs getting made that shows the clicking process for anyone interested.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=40&v=NJpv5OvGKJk
You can see the guy checking the quality of the hide and the thickness. Leather that will most likely develop loose grain feels thinner and softer and stretches a lot. A clicker can typically feel that on the hide and know not to use that part.
Brands like Alden and Wolverine who are notorious for their terrible CXL will simply use all of the hide to save money. If they can cut a pattern out of a piece they'll do it, regardless of if it should be made into a boot or not.

Start with simple. Cut out some soles out of leather or thin rubber (scissors). Cut out some pieces of fabric or leather for a moccasin-like construction (scissors). Sew it together (leather awl and needle). Very few tools involved. Don't forget that our ancestors made shoes for thousands of years without modern tools.

Once you have mastered the few-tool moccasin shoe, you can do things like carve a last to shape the leather (basic woodworking tools), make real welts, etc. But desu I would just stick with basic mocs.

i live in northern norway so we get pretty rough winters here, but since we don't salt the roads as much as in north america i dont have to worry about salt stains on the leather.
