have you tried using silicone and sulfate free shampoo/conditioner? it can weigh curls down. neutrogina clarifying shampoo once a week, then use shampoo and conditioner as normal. remember to not wash your hair with shampoo everyday, it can dry it out.

right after towel drying, comb it out straight, then mess it up with your hands. this will get the hair pointing the right way, just curling as it gets there. if you're hair is too curly for that, use a relaxer.

FINALLY A THREAD FOR ME TO POST IN. this is me right now 5 months since a haircut.

>>14503528
patting it dry rather than rubbing it dry has helped to prevent frizziness. i dont use a comb at all though, i just run my hands through it and shake my head then let it dry

>>14501263
i use head and shoulders shamppo/conditioner twice a week (sunday and wednesday night) and do nothing but rinse it in the shower the other days. never used a regular conditioner before, bought some from costco but no clue if it would work for curly hair or how to use it

what do.

i have similar hair and in my experience the shampoo / conditioner step has much less effect than the actual product.

1. don’t use head and shoulders, or any shampoo whatsoever
2. use a shampoo without sulfates with keratin
3. rinse twice with conditioner, first scrub your scalp and your roots, next let it sit in your hair for a while and then squish each individual ringlet before rinsing it out
4. don’t use a towel to dry it, either buy a specific curly hair towel or wrap it in a t shirt like an arab
5. when it’s damp, put product in it. pic related is what i like to use. the oil first, to give it some shine, and then the pudding to give it texture and some nice tight curls.
6. let it air dry the rest of the way, when it’s all dry your curls will be super tight and kind of crunchy, smoosh them
each individually without separating the actual ringlets to get all of the crunchiness out and you’ll be left with nice well defined curls after a while
instead of an albert einstein monstrosity.
for bonus points, i use an oribe mask 2-3x a week overnight to maintain texture.

forgot the image. here’s everything i use minus the mask which i ran out of. i use the leave in conditioner overnight when i’m not using the mask or during the day if i’m not going anywhere and don’t need to put product in my hair. the quick curls is good in a rush sometimes. the oil is oribe gold lust.

>wrap your hair in a t shirt like a turban

i can appreciate someone doing a lot of work to make it look good but do normal people really do all this?

i mean yeah you don’t have to shave your head but if you want nice hair and you have certain hair types and textures it’s going to require a lot of effort and a lot of products.

the kind thats pretty short or even a fade on the sides but kept really long on top, however the reason i have been growing my hair out this far to where is covers my ears is because pic related is me with short sides, my ears are completely deformed, so i feel like growing the hair to cover them is better than the common cut now like those photos above

thoughts?
