Zelos hammerhead. Really sweet watch but it's a bit big for me. Made from solid marine grade cusn8 bronze, this watch patinas over time. I hate Archie Luxury with a passion. This is a man who looks, sounds, and acts like someone who has to pay for sex. Even if I agreed with him on anything (which I don't) I'd still hate him. This is a man who (supposedly) owns PPs, VCs, APs, JLCs, and god knows what else and he's shouting into a cheap, $5 microphone. And that voice. That fucking voice. What a twat. I'm not a violent man, but if anyone ever shouted at me with that voice, swallowing so hard, smacking his lips and threatening to burst my ear drums with every syllable, I would immediately transform into a Muay Thai lunatic, throwing knees and elbows until my limbs went numb.

Mind you, I don't even buy it, I don't think he's anything like he claims to be, but that's beside the point. I want to believe he's a brilliant satirist...

But onto what he said:

He calls Seikos pieces of shit? Find me a better brand.

To me, if you've got a Royal Oak, a Daytona, a Calatrava, and a Patrimony but you don't have a Grand Seiko, your collection is incomplete. Historically, mechanically, and aesthetically, they deserve a place among the greats.

This is a dumbass who cares only about image (which is ironic because he's loud, hideous, and intolerable) and no appreciation for watches beyond the brand name. He gives true connoisseurs a bad name.

I don't give a fuck what "the man on the street" thinks about my watch. He'd be impressed if it was a knock-off gold-painted Chinese Rolex. Fuck that guy. I care about who made the watch (by that I mean the people, the designers, the engineers, the craftsmen, and their collective passion), I care about what's inside (quality, beauty, precision), I care about the history, and most importantly I care about how the watch makes me feel.

Isn't it ironic how beautiful those Grand Seikos he's showing are? That, and the fact that I know I'll never have to endure the thought of Archie Luxury owning the same watch as me, only makes me want a Grand Seiko more.

I like this watch as a beater "de luxe".
The slate dial, the prominent indices, the robust case shape, the size, the quartz functionality (not so much the GPS but whatever), the overall quality of fit and finish (which is really high), and even the price point.

But there's something about the layout of those subdials that just scream mallwatch.
