I know that one of the watchmakers i work with does use some Chinese parts on the date mechanism as they are somewhat more durable than the original ones (At least the ones he orders from time to time). But occasionally need to be filed down to size to fit older/worn movement.

Memes aside, they early quartz watches with good durable movements as they were built to a higher standard at the time. Although after 30~40 years they can suffer some degradation they are usually in excellent spec. Problem is that the GP case are hit or miss and some cases perhaps were polished.

Shame that the prices on the GQ and KQ penisquartzes has risen a bit though, a few years ago they were plentiful for around 100$.

Depends on the movement, but there are plenty of movements that had a penisquartz logo. From QZ,QR,QT, Silverwaves and KQ and GQ's. IMO i'd search for a nicer 5856 like the one in the pic that i had from a Yahoojp lot years ago.

My only problem with a lot of the KQ's and GQ's are hooded lugs that are basically fit for the bracelet only, and on some of them like the Silverawave penisquartz i have for sale now is that it's barely fitting on my wrist.

If i remember correctly it's either one of the 99XX twin quartz superior or one of the VFA models. Prices on the superior models are absurd right now, however a lot of the 48XX cal movements are shared with the KQ/GQ but more finely adjusted on the superior line IIRC.

I get what you are saying. But there are reasons why you might want more accuracy. A bit like how if you are losing weight you want to look at the scale every day and track progress. Well, you can improve your sleep better if you measure it better and track whats working.

>> No.14476793

>>14476733

Super accuracy is not that useful when everyones laptops and phones are internet connected. And being syned to a phone is not a bug but a feature. And it doesnt matter when you disconnect.

The watch should either be for fashion or function.

If fashion: mechnical is fashionable and quartz isn't. Though some invicta and wooden watches might have some place. And the crazy mechanical complications are seen as art whereas nobody considers the cheap mass produced quartz as art.

If function: smart phones already offer nearly everything you need except the convenience of quick glancing at your wrist. However there are genuinely real uses for the smart watch:

heart rate (uses pulse)
sleep tracking (uses pulse)
blood pressure monitors (just getting added)
silent alarms (it vibrates to wake you up so you dont need to wake up your partner in the morning)
(also alarms to remind you of end of meeting in a polite silent way)
find-my-phone feature
bus card / contactless payment always near your hand

I have no clue what this means but I want something very simple. The quartz watch in this picture is what I would like to go for. I like the color of the band, too. If I could have the day of the month on there too that would be good, but really that's optional.
> Desired bracelet option, e.g. leather, nylon, metal
Anything except for rubber, plastic or metal.
> Wrist size or desired watch size, e.g. 24cm / 50mm
I want a watch that's small. I had a Casio watch that was a good size and I don't know what these measurements mean exactly but this is what's on the store page: Size of case/total weight; 42.0 x 33.0 x 7.0mm / 29g So something similar to that.

There are laws regulating what defines "swiss made" and they're worded in such a way that the watch can be mostly made in china and still have "swiss made" on the dial. The gist of it is that as long as most of the COST of the work was done in switzerland it is swiss made.
That's bullshit though since chinese work for almost nothing so theoretically you could do 90% of the work in china, 10% in switzerland and it would still be swiss made as long as the wiss labor cost more.

Sinn brand guide:

1. Sinn is pronounced Zinn. It means 'sense' in German, this is a 'sensible' watch for the price conscious, like a Toyota Prius.
2. Sinn is not a luxury brand, but they are not pretending to be either. They primarily specialise in tool watches and that is what you've bought.
3. Sinn use third party movements like so many watch brands in this price range.
4. Sinn are widely respected in the watch community just like Seiko is. Non-watch people have no idea who Sinn are.
5. If you aspire to get into proper luxury brands such as TAG Heuer, Breitling, Rolex, etc Sinn is NOT an appropriate stepping stone. You don't buy Sinn to flip or trade in as it has an abysmal resale value. You're better saving your money and aim to get the piece you want rather than lose money on Sinn.
6. So, when you do buy Sinn, you should keep it in perspective as to what it is, a non-luxury daily beater, that no one will ever recognize or respect.
7. I too have a Sinn 104 St Sa I W but I also have a Breitling Navitimer and ambitions for a lot better pieces.
8. Pick out your next purchase carefully and enjoy your Sinn while you save for a real watch. Wear it in good health and best of luck for the future.

Choose the smaller. Large watches make someone with smaller wrists look goofy and unknowledgeable. The only exception is in the case of a tool watch that you use only for that purpose and no other time, such as a watch you only use when diving. Otherwise, stay away from the 42.5 and get the 37.5
