No, that's how every "industry publication" works, it's the same with cars, video games, etc. You basically get the PR sheet with stuff you have to mention etc. otherwise you get blacklisted and don't receive review products anymore, or at least that's how it was in the early 00s when I was doing it, it's probably 100 times worse now.

To get away from that you have to go to a relatively independent forum and see what actual people are saying about it (and see if they have a Youtube review channel or whatever connects them to the industry, if they do, they're probably influenced in some way).

Do you need the brand to be well known to normies, or is it enough that people who are interested in watches know and respect these brands? Omega is the obvious choice either way. They're not cheap either, but they start cheaper than Rolex. If Omega is still too expensive, then I would look at Longines, Tudor, Nomos for starters. Breitling is also ok if you have large wrists, and of course you can buy TAG Heuer. This brand isn't so well respected in the watch community, but of late they have gained rekindled respect due to them finally producing in-house movements of good quality.

There are plenty of good brands that aren't so well-known, but still respected in the watch community.

I'll either grab a Orient (the one with the 3 stars) or a Mako 2/Ray 2. Or a Seiko 5. (all of these to more social stuff. Uni/office job/social events with a suit.

I'm also choosing to go with a GSHOCK DW5600 in the future since I'll work on mostly every weather condition. Is there a better budget GSHOCK that will last me at least 3-5 years? Also, I'm going to grab the one with the negative LCD. Is there any pros and cons or is it fully different only aesthetically?

And I'm also grabbing a F91w for everyday walks or stuff that won't really put the watch itself on danger like chilling outside or going to the grocery store.
