I've been following my fathers advice on suits. Took a leap, went to an Asian lady who sells them, and bought one I think i look good in.
Shame that she even did my measurements, yet it still looks big around the arms.
What do you guys think? Did i fuck up?

Here is another angle, the lapel is very fucking tiny. Like it's not even there

i looked like shit in my prom suit too, because i wasn't able to stand up to my parents.
"relax, this style is fashionable nowadays" they said, and i listened, i ignored my instincts, and i looked like a fucking clown.
it all finally clicked to me last year when my mom said that macklemore haircuts were the next big thing.
don't rely on your dad's advice too much. he probably looked like shit too.

even the nicest bespoke suit will not save an autistic spaz.

same happened to me with my first suit,
even though it was bespoke. my father took me to a super old tailor who was supposedly a legend but was unfortunately a few decades behind on trends.
granted it was very good quality construction and my father paid for it

90s baggy suits were a mistake and i loathe all the media outlets who are trying to push them back into fashion

don't be too self conscious about it, nobody really looks that great at prom and nobody really cares.

one exception i've always noticed were the black kids who try way too hard at prom for some reason. anyone know why?

Well you still have time to go to a different tailor so he fixes it for you. No need to buy a new suit anon

>> No.14420291

>>14419117
Wrong. You go to suitsupply and buy different fits. They have next day shipping. While the packets are underway (you can return the ill-fitting suits at no cost), you get your money back from the gook. Once you tried the fits, you pick the one that suits you best. Then you go to the tailor for regular amendments, pant length, sleeve length. Maybe have the waist extended for are more classic fit. Said suits will not cost you more than the 250 bucks. Don't be an idiot. Lesson time is now.

>> No.14420294

>>14420222
Wasted money. The whole shoulder and armhole part do not fit. Unredeemably fucked. He needs to give the suit back. This will be the kind of photo that is going to be posted in those suits threads, mocking the serious wearers.

(cont.) Another idea is to go thrifting. This can save lots of bucks and look better. OP is young enough that is time is not too valuable.

>> No.14420369

>>14420294
Well it will either be a waste of money or a waste of his prom and him constantly being obsessed about his look. I still think it’s worth to at least consult a different tailor and I don’t think it will cost that much.

>> No.14420416

>>14420369
shortening pants - 20$
shortening sleeves from bottom 20$
shortening sleeves from shoulder + arm rotation 80$
restructuring the shoulder - 120$ at the bare minimum

OP got ripped off by a gook and is now being faced with a choice. A prom to remember (not fondly) or start being a man instead of a faceless, opinionless zoomer. OP has come here for advice and many people - including me - can give him suit advice from a decade of experience. Telling him that "it is not so bad" is like slapping him in the face. Why I am so invested in this? Because I absolutely hate how modern menswear culture rapes men's looks to the point that the majority will only wear suits to occasions because they don't feel right.

>> No.14420429

>>14420416
I see. Well jokes on him then. I remember when I had my suits made I controlled every little detail of the process cuz I wanted it to look great. OP seems to had only one measurement and called it a day

Indeed. You may be sick of hearing Suitsupply here and there but they have taken over the RTW market in a blitz. Only a month ago they introduced full canvas RTW suits for 700€. Since their fits can fit one really well (close to MtM), one can call it a day there and need not go any higher (i.e. when starting a family, the money is needed elsewhere).

Alright, I had as day to think about it, read your replies And I think the best plan is to wear the Suit jacket for pictures, then take it off and just wear the dress shirt. Thanks for the advice for the future. Next time, don't go to the Asian women, and find a suit that fits the shoulders and the arms better. Thanks guys

Baggy suits can be good (1930s or stylish suits from the late 80s) but the 90s were a dark era for classic menswear. Literally almost killed the suit in that decade it looked so bad.

Simply because its proper attire for it. And secondly, so I can compare with my shortcomings of the suit jacket, to others and try and become better and spotting what fits and what does not, specifically for suits
