Hmm, maybe I did a poor job constructing the question. To me, tailoring is always a good thing. What I'm curious about is whether or not it would be worth tailoring an H&M suit. I want a suit and I want it to fit great but I'm not willing to spend a bunch of money because the value just isn't there for me. Am I better off getting an H&M suit tailored or some other cheap suit brand like Zaras or something else along those lines?

The reason H&M and Zara are cheaper is because they aren't custom fitted to your body and the fabrics are probably cheaper and you don't get to choose them.
But if you can live with that and you can find a tailor who is willing to do the work for a fair price then why not?

I suppose I'd have to go and get my hands on some of their suits to judge for myself. I've always liked Zegna suits. They seem to strike the balance between really high end quality and not absurd prices, but I'm kinda passed that stage in my life where I care about that sort of thing. I'd rather have a well fitting suit made from cheaper fabrics that still looks really good and use that money for other fun life stuff.

Then get the cheap H&M suit then take it to a tailor, it will look way better. But remember to make sure the shoulders are comfortable, a bigger size is always better. If the sleeves are too long, its an easy fix for a tailor. Seriously how much of a dumb cunt can you be!

My point was that many tailors won't want to spend their time altering something made out of cheap fabric that isn't going to last so they may refuse the work or charge you an inconvenience fee. (charge you more than they normally would)

i didn't get it "tailored" but the guy had the hem done with my measurements and desu senpai it fits pretty great

zara and h&m suits are probably way more suited than dad suits anyway, it's kinda hard to look bad in those

You got a Nordstrom Rack around? If so check there, you can find some pretty incredible deals on suits and they'll definitely be better quality than what you get at H&M or Zara. There's a good chance of getting good cuts too, because most people that shop at Nordstrom are old guys that buy awful baggy suits and so the ones that go to remainder at the Rack are the actual cool slim-fit stuff.

Dont buy a fused suit and keep it on a rack until you muster the courage to wear one.

If you want something to last over years get atleast half-canvas.

Please never go buy a suit from H&M and Zara. They will look absolutely ridiculous, certainly be fused and made of a cheap fabric. At least buy Suitsupply (half-canvas) if you are going to buy a suit.

If you buy a decent suit and get that one tailored would be more expensive in total but you could use it for much longer and it wont look cheap.
