Seriously AP is awesome but hard to live with day to day. You honestly just look at it and the bezel scratches. Nothing beats their bracelet and case finishing. However their movements aren't that special. Had a 15202st.

JLC is nice and respectable but none of their styles suit my use cases. Their strap watches look awesome but I'm a hand washing freak and just always worrying about getting the strap wet is a hassle.

After owning all the holy trinity and tonnes of Omega and tag. Rolex really is the watch that suits most situations.

There are a lot of things I think about as being stages in my maturing into an adult. Just little things that nobody can tell you and if they do tell you, it doesn't sink like it should.
Women really do go after money. The more money you have, the more stupid shit they will put up with. A lot of incels can't grasp that they don't have dick going on with them and that's why, it's not always about the money. The potential for money is also important.

Even the girls who "aren't after money" still want that potential. You'd be surprised how quick they will flip as soon as someone with the traits the woman likes about you but with the addition of money comes along. Even if you're poor, the shittiest of women will still go after you for the little bit of money you can somehow provide.

JLC watches hold their value about as well as a Seiko. Regardless of quality, that's a pretty huge turnoff for most people as even for the rich, a luxury watch is only behind cars and houses as the most valuable items they own (save for like gold bars and yachts and shit but even still, they make watches in that bracket).

Source: I work in finance. Those who buy this kind of shit usually don't care about eating the minor depreciation. There are a multitude of reasons why they do this the most common being taxes. Everyone in my department usually receives some sort of expensive durable good as a 'gift' instead of getting a bonus every year because if they gave cash it could dick with our portfolios, even if it's a gift.

I'd argue financial diversification is a more common reason to buy nice watches than even as a status symbol.

And for the record, if you bought a durable item and now it's worth 1/4 of what you paid, was it ever worth what you paid in the first place?

This is a terrible hobby. You first have to spend $5k or more on a Rolex just to say you can afford them, to then be able to buy watches you actually like. I really like pilot and field watches that are usually around $1-2k, but if I buy those, I'll get "too poor for a Rolly?" all the time unless I just buy a Sub/Explorer/DateJust and wear it at some point in front of the people. This is no way to live, since the watches are supposed to impress even casual acquaintances and people you will never talk to again such as cashiers and waitresses, so you end up wearing the Rolex all the time, and all the watches you like end up collecting dust.
