Zara Scent #1 is better than Santal 33. I own both and prefer Zara's. The poorer preformance is actually a plus when it come to this scent. Santal 33 is waaay too strong. Scent #1 also has a stronger leather note in the base that is really kinda sexy. I bought 3 bottles for about 15 bucks a pop because they're more than likely gonna axe it if they haven't already.

Got an insane couldnt pass up deal on a 75% full bottle of Back to Black so I bought it basically blind from someone I know clearing out their collection. Wore it last night. Its unique for sure but the berry/cherry was more prominent than I was anticipating. I was expecting a honey tobacco gourmand with some sweet nuances. Its all there and blended well, but I was just expecting something different I guess. Its a like because it is unique, but not a love. I can see why some say it leans feminine. Glad I got it for so cheap because Id be kicking myself if I paid anything near full. I have black phantom and I like it a lot better. I think Kilian frags are unique and cool if the price is right. I can see back to black being a strong metrosexual clubbing frag though so I'll activate chad miasma when things cool off. Summer in southeast US here so this would get cloying.

If you’re looking for a honey tobacco scent pic related might be something to look into. Retails for about $80 on Amazon and got an insane (nearly Aventus tier) amount of hype a couple years back. I don’t own a bottle so I can’t confirm what it actually smells like, but it got over the top positive ratings from every fragrance reviewer i saw reviewing it. Seriously, look up the YouTube reviews, it’s fucking ridiculous. People were putting it on par with Herod and Tobacco Vanille. I imagine it’s probably not good for summer in the southeast though. Obviously all fragrances are going to smell different when you begin wearing them than they did when you first smelled them in the store, but does anyone else find this phenomenon to be particularly true of the Sauvage edp? I’ve smelled the edt on people more times than I can remember and have always overlooked it for that reason. It smelled good but nothing that made me feel the need to pick up a bottle, but a few months back I tried the edp at Sephora and was pretty much blown away. The first thing I picked up was the metallic note everyone talks about, which I always assumed was a bad thing, but I honestly never smelled anything like it. It conjured this vivid image of a cool grey gunmetal color, and felt almost more like a tactile sensation than a scent. I picked it up and brought it home and never got that sensation again. Figured it was run of the mill anosmia so I took it out of my rotation for a week, nothing. Stopped wearing fresh fragrances for another few weeks after that, nothing. It still smells good, but not at all like it did the first time I tried it. Never had such a steep drop off with a fragrance before. What the fuck is going on with Sauvage?

Was that the first frag you smelled that day? Were you wearing another fragrance when you tried it? The way you perceive a scent is going to be different depending on what you smelled immediately prior. There’s an interesting thing I’ve noticed watching reviews of Sauvage. When asked about how it smells on its own or against one or two similar fragrances, people give slightly above average feedback, but when asked about how it smells against 6-10 other fragrances, it almost always comes out on or near the top. I don’t know if Demachy somehow intended this to happen or if it was just a happy accident, but it would explain why Sauvage is one of the best selling fragrances on the market despite being met with such mediocre reviews.

But it's really hard to get into fragrances, whats good, whats bad, how to distinguish between good and bad, whats edc, edt, edp etc., notes, seasonality and all and that one list that gets posted here is really overwhelming
I got some testers for Margiela Fireplace, Jazz Club, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and Noir de Noir and didn't really like any but that started my list of fragrances i picked up in these generals, luca turins lists, a few youtube videos (but i really couldnt stand jeremy for long, especially being german myself) and browsing fragrant world

Well, to each their own, I guess. I own Kiste, Grev, and Sadanne, and I love them all. The whole reason people put up with his shit is that a lot of people think his stuff is really, really good. Also the fact that his scents are non-IFRA compliant, have very interesting compositions, and are strong as fuck.

Was really looking forward to trying some of his new frags.

Ok, so according to Basenotes, the Slumberhouse dude accidentally destroyed a bunch of his prototypes by setting them on fire. So Victorialand, at least, is cancelled. Dunno about the others he announced. He had one that was supposedly Norne’s “darker sister”. Sounded pretty dank. Hope that one’s still coming.

I don’t have any associations of BA with Bohemians. For me it rather fits a 40yo sharp and fit guy who is sporting a good suit on an evening out on French Riviera. Think Hadid’s dad. Sample Fortis if you find BA polarizing. It might be better for you because of its softer edges, and is 3xcheaper per ml.

Also remember to remind American sellers to attach a CN22 form and to mark the parcel as a gift and under £5 to avoid a customs charge, if you go for an American seller.

Same anon. Ordered Chinotto and Cipresso.

Chinotto is divine, very dry and somewhat powdery citrus and a nice musky base. A very interesting take on a citrus scent for high heat and I can imagine it carrying well into autumn.

Cipresso on the otherhand is revoltingly bad. I mainly get a triad of sour sweet and salty. We had a cypress in our garden and it was such a pleasant three to sit next to, fresh, citric and a bit resinous. This scent starts out with incredibly ugly elemi and doesn’t get any better. It smells a bit like a very bad version of Eau Sauvage Parfum next to rotting fruits and vegetables.

Thanks for reading my blogpost.

Reporting back: Aquatics Frag Sampling has commenced

Initial impressions as of 6/12/19, eventually frags will be worn for ~ a week:

1. Every Storm a Serenade by Imaginary Authors - This shit actually does smell like a storm by the water. It’s not an “uplifting” scent, but that’s not a bad thing at all. It’s a little dark and moody but not scary, like an art hoe.

2. Cool Water by Davidoff - I would use this shit instead of Windex to clean my bathroom mirror. Don’t wear this, just get a nice smelling bar soap if you don’t have any money, not even memeing

3. Erolfa Creed for men - definitely give this a chance if you’re into fresh outdoorsy zesty types of frags. If you like GIT, MI, or AdG or anything like that, Erolfa could be a nice default-to summer grab for you

4. Bleu Astral by Issey Miyake for men - Too sweet for a masculine guy imo, this might work for a girl though. I wanted something to evoke a starry summer night, but this comes across smelling too much like bubble gum - reminded me of He Wood DSQUARED2, which I thought smelled way too sweet even though they’re both woody which I like. Still looking for a starry night frag if anyone has recs..

5. Bvlgari Aqva - This kinda falls short after having smelled the other scents that I perceived as higher quality / better done. I had tried this before, wanted to give it another chance. Not a bad aquatic but almost seems a little to synthetically done - like its watery and you can tell it’s fake water. Because of that, it’s too juvenile for someone over age, say 25-27. Im sure it’s fine for high school and college though

Frags I have received but not yet sampled; reports to come:

Acqua di Sale, Profumum
Kenzo Homme Night for men
Millesime Imperial, Creed for men
Heeley Sel Marin
Polo Blue
Eternal Return CB I Hate Perfume
Clive Christian Rock Rose
Clive Christian 1872 for men
Neroli Portofino, Tom Ford
Acqua di Gio Profumo, Armani
